In an incident that echoes Donald Trump's "pussy-grabbing" controversy, a Republican politician has been arrested and charged with sexual assault after an altercation with a woman ended with him grabbing her crotch.
Christopher von Keyserling, a 71-year-old member of the Representative Town Meeting in Connecticut (a form of local government), is accused of insulting and then assaulting a staffer during a disagreement over none other than Donald Trump himself.
US Democrats have taken to Twitter to show support for Australia after the tense Turnbull-Trump phone call, with one Republican trying to smooth relations.
President Donald Trump has defended his "tough" approach to speaking with foreign leaders in his first public remarks since details of his phone conversation with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull became public.
Nonprofit groups awarded the U.S. government's first grants to combat violent extremism are rejecting the money because of President Donald Trump's actions involving the Muslim and Arab community.
White House Press Secretary, Sean Spicer, says President Trump had a 'very cordial' conversation with the prime minister of Australia. But he gets one important detail wrong...
US Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump says he is "not proud" of his lewd remarks about women after video emerged.
According to local media, the arrest warrant alleged von Keyserling responded to the woman's comment that it's "a new world politically" by telling her "I love this new world, I no longer have to be politically correct."
The conversation descended into name-calling, and von Keyserling followed the woman into her office where he allegedly reached between her legs and "pinched her groin area".

In yet another parallel to Trump's pussy-grabbing "locker room talk" affair, von Keyserling's defence attorney Phil Russell is attempting to excuse the assault by descibing it as some sort of "playful" joke.
Speaking with News 12 Connecticut, Russell said the charges were outrageous. "Von Keyserling playfully gave a lady who he knew for 30 years a pinch is what the accusation is.
"And somehow, everybody's wringing their hands and carrying on that this is a crime, and it just isn't."
In fact, knowing someone for 30 years does not make grabbing their genitals without consent any less of a crime. And, according to police, the woman's story is backed up by video footage.
