After a federal judge put a nationwide block on U.S. President Donald Trump's week-old immigration ban on Friday, the White House hit back at the 'outrageous' ruling and said it 'intends to file an emergency stay'. The Department of Justice is expected to halt the order at the earliest possible time, but not as soon as Friday night. Customs and Border Protection has already alerted major US airlines that it will begin to reinstate visas, after the ruling was made effective immediately.
The temporary restraining order represents a major challenge to Trump's controversial action, and his administration took three hours to grasp how to address the Seattle judge's order. Washington state's attorney general, Bob Ferguson, said: 'This decision shuts down the executive order right now. No one is above the law -- not even the President'.

In her 1,300-word letter (inset, bottom) she wrote: 'Mum and Dad, Thanks for everything, I owe you . . . Parents, both of you, thank you for teaching me that taking drugs ruins lives, breaks families apart and gives no one a quality of life worth living . . . Thank you for teaching me to be ambitious.'

Coleen Nolan has been crowned winner in the explosive Celebrity Big Brother 2017 final on Friday night.    The baffled presenter broke down in tears as she was revealed as the champion of the Channel 5 reality series in a surprising twist. The emotional former Loose Women panellist, 51, beat runners-up Jedward and fiery clean queen Kim Woodburn in the 'incredibly close' final.

Jedward's dad is reportedly fighting for his life - but insisted his 'critical condition' be kept a secret from the twins while they were on Celebrity Big Brother. John Grimes is said to be suffering from a mystery illness which he hid from his 25-year-old sons - who came second in the final - so that they wouldn't leave the Channel 5 show. The twins' mum and manager Susanna Condron told the Daily Star that if the singers left early there would have been 'legions of disappointed fans'.

A woman who has been married to a British man for almost 30 years is being held in a Scottish detention centre and is set to be deported back to her home country. Irene Clennel, who lives in Ouston, near Chester-le-Street, in County Durham, was detained at a routine appointment at an immigration reporting centre in Middlesbrough. She has been told she will be removed from the UK and sent back to Singapore.

President Donald Trump reunited with First Lady Melania Trump on Friday afternoon for his first weekend getaway from the White House after a whirlwind week which left Washington - and the world - reeling. 'I told you I'd win that election,' he told a crowd that welcomed him in Palm Beach after a flight aboard Air Force One. The first lady gave him a kiss at the bottom of the stairs he used to exit the presidential aircraft after the flight from outside Washington.
Traveling with the president aboard Air Force One was Blackstone CEO Stephen Schwarzman, who chairs a panel of business CEOs for the president. The first lady has had no public appearances since the inauguration. She has been at the couple's Trump Tower home in New York while their 10-year-old son Barron attends school.

The impressive giant puzzle, created by German artist Clemens Habicht, features all the colours in the CMYK spectrum. This makes it extremely difficult to complete, as tiles next to each other are almost identical in colour - but not exactly the same. In the time-lapse video, the jigsaw builders can be seen completing the edges of the puzzle first, before moving inwards.

Kala Brown, 30, will speak out for the first time after her dramatic rescue from being chained in a storage container and watching her captor, Todd Kohlhepp, kill her boyfriend Charlie Carver. At the time of the rescue, the couple had been missing for two months from their home in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Now, in her first public interview since her dramatic rescue, Brown plans to say later this month on 'Dr Phil' that her captor did not break her. She said in a statement on the shows website, 'No matter what he did to me, he did not break me. He cannot destroy me, and I won'.

NEW The businessman once described as Africa's youngest billionaire could be forced to sell his £160,000 ticket to space to pay off his wife in their High Court divorce battle. Computer parts seller Ashish Thakkar (left and inset), 35, and travel journalist Meera Manek (right), 33, who separated in 2013 after four years of marriage, are due in court next week. Mr Thakkar claims he only has £445,532 to his name but Miss Manek says he is a billionaire and is hiding assets offshore to stop her getting her hands on them.

NEW A neglected dog whose matted ball of dirty fur made her breed unidentifiable has had a haircut and given a name as the RSPCA launch an investigation into how she ended up resembling a 'dirty mop'. The tiny shih tzu has been named Rosie and was handed into a veterinary practice in Bury after she was found by a member of the public. In addition to her overgrown coat her flesh was covered in deep wounds and her skin was bleeding. Rosie is thought to be aged between three and six-years-old, had no microchip or ID tag when she was handed in to vets.

Brenda (left), who declined to give her last name, said Friday that she was flying from New Orleans to Fort Lauderdale when flight attendants first accused her of being drunk and belligerent. The waitress says she was sober at the time and told the employees she wasn't intoxicated. She told the network a flight attendant then told her to cover up. Brenda asked a fellow passenger to take a photo of her outfit (upper right) to show that it wasn't inappropriate. She believes the airline was trying to make room for another employee and were trying to find any excuse to remove her from the plane. Spirit Airlines (bottom right, file picture) has denied her claims.

The Gulf Coast Bigfoot Research Organization (bottom right), which will appear Saturday in Destination America's new show 'Killing Bigfoot', responds to reported Sasquatch sightings, hunting down each specimen. Members of the GCBRO, which include former cops as well as National Guard and military veterans, have no doubts about the existence of the creature. The group says on its website that several of its hunters have witnessed it with their own eyes. They use night-vision equipment, microphones and thermal imaging to try to capture traces of the animal (upper right). But GCBRO investigator Don Mcdonald (left) said it's hard to catch a Sasquatch on camera, possibly because of the creature's sharp vision.

Surrey-based Catherina Head and her family believe the canvas was painted in the mangle room at the parsonage in Nuenen of Theodorus van Gogh, Vincent's father, where the artist lived.

A company based in Van Nuys, California, that recently released the first ever jet-turbine backpack that lets people fly is now working on a new sci-fi-esque project: A personal flying car. While the flying vehicle is still at the concept stage, the developers plan to start building the first prototype in six months. The plan is for it to be a single-seat helicopter-like vehicle that can fit in a single car garage.

Russian researchers have revealed a radical new cargo plane that could radically change the way goods are shipped around the globe.  The new 'groundskimmer' is a huge craft capable of carrying 500 tonnes of cargo in a single trip. To do this, is uses an effect known as ground effect to trap a cushion of air underneath its giant wing. It would be loaded with containers in compartments inside a wing and loaded via flap doors (inset).

Caroline Wyatt (pictured) travelled to a private hospital in Puebla, two hours south of Mexico City, for treatment in January. She returned to London last week and won't know if the treatment was a success for a year. After her treatment (right), Miss Wyatt lost all her hair and felt as 'vulnerable as a newborn'. In the gruelling operation, MS doctors use the patient's healthy stem cells to effectively re-grow their immune system.
