Who silenced royal rebel Lady Amelia? 36th in line to British throne deletes her Instagram account after posting controversial remark about President Trump

The 36th in line to the throne has posted this picture on Instagram backing refugees

When it comes to Donald Trump, the Royal Family will apparently let nothing get in the way of a smooth state visit.

I can disclose a junior member of 'The Firm' has deleted her Instagram account after she dared post a controversial remark relating to the new President.

A Buckingham Palace spokesman refused to comment yesterday on whether Lady Amelia Windsor, who was crowned the most beautiful Royal by society bible Tatler, had been told to remove the posting, which featured the comment: 'Say it loud, say it clear, refugees are welcome here.'

The slogan was posted alongside a picture of three raised, clenched fists. Next to it, she wrote: 'Let the evil in the world be always conquered by the good.'

A spokesman for Storm, the modelling agency which signed up Lady Amelia last month, also refused to comment on the censorship, or self-censorship. Lady Amelia — whose grandfather, the Duke of Kent, is the Queen's first cousin — posted the message on the same day Trump was widely denounced for his immigration ban on citizens from Iran, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.

The royals traditionally refrain from political statements. But just two weeks ago, 21-year-old Lady Amelia told a magazine that she intended to make her Instagram account public.

It is no accident that Amelia posted the message on the same day US President Donald Trump was widely denounced for his immigration ban

'I love that we can share all the beautiful and meaningful things we see and hear in the world,' she said. 'I find it so inspiring and uplifting.'

The move raises fascinating questions about whether Prince Harry's girlfriend, Meghan Markle, will be allowed to continue her active social media presence if the couple became engaged.

Not only does Meghan regularly post slogans on Twitter and Instagram, but she has her own lifestyle website, which is full of social commentary.

Lady Amelia, who is daughter of the Earl and Countess of St Andrews, is 36th in line to the throne. The second-year French and Italian student at Edinburgh University has never been a stickler for convention and once adorned her left shoulder with a temporary tattoo of a tiger.

Pugnacious New York-based socialite Anthony Haden-Guest, who was immortalised in Tom Wolfe's novel The Bonfire Of The Vanities as a boozy English hack, is celebrating his 80th birthday this week by taking part in a boxing bout.

The last time he boxed in public he ended up losing two front teeth. At least he hasn't lost his appetite for life.

Dame Kristin Scott Thomas takes her clothes very seriously and once even came close to tears over a wig

When asked on the red carpet what's she dressed in, Dame Kristin Scott Thomas usually likes to joke 'my skin'.

However, the actress can take her clothes terribly seriously.

Joan Juliet Buck's forthcoming memoir The Price Of Illusion reveals that Dame Kristin was left visibly upset after a Paris Vogue fashion shoot.

Writes Buck, who was then editing the title: 'Kristin Scott Thomas stood on the no-seam paper wearing a tight white tweed jumpsuit from Chanel with legs that pooled around the ankles, a Louise Brooks wig on her head.

'She was close to tears. 'I hate the wig,' she said.'

Ginger crooner Ed Sheeran is certainly not lacking self-confidence.

'In a 100-metre sprint to get a number-one album, I just know I'm going to win,' he declares.

'I don't care who's doing what. I just know I'm going to win. I'm going to make sure I come first.'

He adds: 'I'm very happy for everyone to be in the same race as me, even if they copy every single thing I've done.'

Almost a year after her maiden Lords speech, Michelle Mone, 45, gave her second this week.

The Ultimo bra company creator was talking about the Technical and Further Education Bill and wasted no time bringing up her specialist subject.

She recounted how the firm that bought her out increased productivity. 'Did your lordships know that there are 28 components in just one bra?

The company invested heavily in training the team in lean manufacturing.

The results were astonishing, cutting the lead time for making a bra from four months down to just 14 days.'

Fascinating. Perhaps she can learn to cut the lead time for making her next speech.
