Selena Gomez is nominated for Kids' Choice Award as her current beau The Weeknd goes up against ex Bieber as 2017 contenders are announced
The nominees for the Nickelodeon 2017 Kids' Choice Awards have been announced.
Selena Gomez has been nominated in the favorite female singer while her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber will battle it out with her new beau The Weeknd for favorite male singer.
The duo go up against Drake, Bruno Mars, Shawn Mendes and Justin Timberlake in the category.

We know who she wants to win! Bieber's ex Selena Gomez, who is now dating The Weeknd, will compete for favorite female singer
Selena, 24, will be competing against Adele, Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, Rihanna and Meghan Trainor.
Timberlake, with seven nods, and Kevin Hart with six, lead this year's nominations.
Timberlake, 36, scored a nominations including favorite song, favorite animated voice and favorite music video.
Funny guy Hart is up for favorite villain and favorite animated voice among others.
Tough competition: Selena will go up against Rihanna and Ariana Grande
As for movies, Captain America: Civil War was the top nominee while Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice followed behind with seven nominations.
Ghostbusters and Rogue One: A Star Wars story racked up five nods each.
For favorite global music star, the contenders are 5 Seconds of Summer (Australia/New Zealand), BIGBANG (Asia), Bruno Mars (North America), Little Mix (U.K.), Shakira (South America), Zara Larsson (Europe).
Meanwhile Calvin Harris, Major Lazer, Skrillex earned nominations in the new DJ/ EDM category that Nickelodeon added this year.

Fan favorite! Kevin Hart has the second most Kids' Choice nominations with six nods
They will go up against Martin Garrix, DJ Snake and Zedd in the inaugural category.
Another new category is favorite music video with the contenders revealed as 24K Magic (Bruno Mars), Can’t Stop The Feeling! (Justin Timberlake), Formation (Beyoncé), Juju On That Beat (Zay Hilfigerrr and Zayion McCall), Me Too (Meghan Trainor) and Stressed Out (Twenty One Pilots).

In total there are nine new categories including favorite frenemies, most wanted pet and #Squad.
The Chainsmokers are first-time nominees in the favorite music group category.
'This has gotta be one of the coolest things ever!,' bandmember Alex Pall told Billboard.

'We grew up watching Nickelodeon religiously… Nick basically shaped who we are as goofballs, so to be nominated for favorite group and new artist is so cool. We may not be some boy band or whatever but it’s nice to know all the kids out there get down with us.'
WWE star John Cena will host the ceremony from the USC Galen Center in Los Angeles on March 11.
The show will be broadcast live on Nick beginning at 8pm.
