Souths suddenly trail by only one after a breakaway try by Damien Cook. Sydney Roosters 8-7. Daniel Tupou gets the day's 101st try. And Latrell Mitchell lands a nice conversion. The kicking improved at the back end of he day. Sydney Roosters 14-7

Halftime at Eden Park: SYDNEY ROOSTERS 8 SOUTH SYDNEY 0

Paul Momirovski is our first scorer in the last game of the day. We're getting close to a century of touchdowns now. Sydney Roosters 4-0. We're getting a pattern here of a handful of players really dominating the tournament. Connor Watson is one such players, scoring for the tricolours just then. Sydney Roosters 8-0.

Fulltime at Eden Park: NORTH QUEENSLAND 35 CANBERRA 6

Young gun Kalyn Ponga takes a pass off Thurston, stutters just a little and then accelerates like shot out of a cannon to score another Cowboys try. North Queensland 21-0. Gala-Mosby has another helping fof the spoils now. What a tournament he is having. North Queensland 28-0. Ponga again, outside Adam Clydsdale after holding the ball out in front of him and skipping to the right. North Queensland 35-0. Thomas Cronan scores his second try for the tournament and it was a good one, avoiding a Nines record scoreline. North Queensland 35-6

 

Halftime at Eden Park: NORTH QUEENSLAND 14 CANBERRA 0

Johnathan Thurston almost scores from a Raiders error but in the end it mattered not. From the scrum win, team-mate Kyle Feldt waltzes over. North Queensland 4 Canberra 0. Now Javid Bowen crosses on the left after palming off his opposite number. North Queensland 10-0. Gideon Gela-Mosby gets airbourne for his latest try. Does this trend by wingers put more pressure on photographers to get the shot?

Josh Aloiai for Wests Tigers. Melbourne 8-6. Felise Kaufusi for Melbourne after a team-mate resisted the temptation to reach out for a double movement. Melbourne 14-6.

Brody Croft scores for Melbourne after backing up a Young Tonumaipea break. Melbourne 4 Wests Tigers 0. Against retreating defence, Croft gets his second touchdown. The Cameron Munster attempt hits an upright. Melbourne 8-0.

Anthony Milford makes the break for Gehamat Shibasaki to go close, before Jordan Kahu adds to his total. Brisbane 10-4, Big Buddy. Brock Lamb kicks for Peter Matautia to register the Newcastle Knights' response. The coaches are turning the airwaves blue with their halftime talks this afternoon. Surely they know the cameras are there. Brisbane 10-8. Jordan Kahu registers a hat-trick and again converts well. Brisbane 14-8. Now Matiu Love-Henry breaks through two tackles to dot down in the bonus zone and give the Broncos more than enough breathing room. Brisbane 21-8

First try here from Newcastle's Danny Levi and it's unconverted. Newcastle 4-0. Brisbane hit back. 4-4. Meanwhile South Sydney's Aaron Gray has a knee ligament strain.

Fulltime at Eden Park: PARRAMATTA 17 WARRIORS 0

Semi Radradra poasts another Eels try. He baulked the defender by slowing down, then accelerated outside him. Clint Gutherson's conversion is successful. Parramatta 17-0. Will the absence of the Warriors tomorrow affect the crowd? Parramatta 17-0.

Corey Norman kicks superbly for the man we all looked forward to seeing this weekend, Bevan French, to score between the posts. Parramatta 7 Warriors 0. Former Warrior Honeti Tuha spins out of a couple of tackles to leave the Warriors in danger of dropping out of the tournament. Parramatta 11-0

Fulltime at Eden Park: MANLY 23 ST GEORGE ILLAWARRA 20

Another example of mind-boggling pace from Jai Field who got outside the Manly defence, straightened up and streaked away. Manly 17-16. Peter Schuster, cousin of John, scores for Manly to widen their lead. Manly 23-16. Nice footwork from the old man Joel Thompson, for St George Illawarra but it's too late. Fulltime. Manly 23-20.

Halftime at Eden Park: MANLY 17 ST GEORGE ILLAWARRA 11

Again, the Dragons score after only a few seconds. When it happened last time, of course, they were well beaten. Mat Dufty was the scorer this time. St George Illawarra 7 Manly 0. Next up for the Steelers, Jai Field crosses just to the right of the posts and - yet again - the conversion misses. St George Illawarra 11-0. Joey Lussick dives over from dummy half for the softest of Manly tries. St George Illawarra 11-4. Curtis Sironen posts his second try of the tournament, with Cameron Cullen instrumental. Pita Godinet converts. St George Illawarra 11-10. Brian Kelly gets another soft Sea Eagles try from close range. Manly 17-11.

Reimis Smith scores Canterbury's first off a Sam Kasiano pass. Gold Coast 8-4. Tyler Cornish responds for Gold Coast between the posts. Gold Coast 13-4. Somehow, Chris McQueen has 10 nines tries in his career. That was his 10th. Gold Coast 17-4. Late try by the Doggies with the game gone. Gold Coast 17-10

Tyronne Roberts-Davis opens the scoring for Gold Coast off a Cornish kick. Perfect bounce for the youngster. When it comes to drop-kicks, these guys are ... dropkicks. Another miss. Gold Coast 4-0. Cousin Tyrone Roberts (this is not a lit error) gets the next touchdown for the Tits. Gold Coast 8-0

Fulltime at Eden Park: PENRITH 16 CRONULLA 14

Jed Cartwright opens the second half scoring for the Panthers, who have rested a number of stars from this game. What if the team that wants the Nines canned wins them? Penrith 12-8. More points from the Pennys with Corey Harawira-Naera crossing. Penrith 16-8. Second try for Cherrington and the Sharks have just the faintest whiff.. Penrith 16-14

 

Halftime: CRONULLA 8 PENRITH 6

Manaia Cherrington kicks for himself to open the scoring for Cronulla. Who needs Segeyaro, eh? Cronulla 4-0. Another try for the Sharkies, also unconverted. Cronulla 8-0. Moses Leota responds, near the posts, for Penrith. Cronulla 8-6

Nines Womens International: AUSTRALIA 20 NEW ZEALAND 4

Australia's women's team, the Jillaroos, have continued their recent dominance over New Zealand with a big win in the nines international at Eden Park. Australia led 12-0 at halftime before the Kiwis pegged one back. Chelsea Baker posted two tries.

Live Waiheke Pool ladder below. Zane Musgrove scores for the Bunnies. South Sydney 12-7. St Helens import Jordan Turner gets his first try Down Under after clever lead-up from Adam Clydsdale. South Sydney 12-11. And in the last play of the game, the Raiders live up to their name with Thomas Cronan crossing in the corner. Canberra 15-12
