A teenager has been threatened with a handgun during a supermarket robbery north of Brisbane on Friday night.

A man entered the Woolworths store on Morayfield Road in Caboolture South about 8pm and approached the express checkout.

Channel Nine reported the 16-year-old female attendant asked the man how his day was, to which he replied "yeah good thanks, but I need some cash".

The customer then produced what is believed to be a handgun and threatened the teenager, who handed over cash.

The armed robber fled the store and police have released images of a man they want to speak to regarding the incident.

He is described as Caucasian with a medium build, brown hair, wearing a white hoodie with black spots, black shirt with writing on the front, dark pants and orange sunglasses.
