Dota 2

Dota 2 is a free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) video game developed and published by Valve Corporation. The game was released for Microsoft Windows, OS X, and Linux in July 2013, following a Windows-only public beta testing phase that began in 2011, and is the stand-alone sequel to Defense of the Ancients (DotA), a mod for Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and its expansion pack, The Frozen Throne. Dota 2 is one of the most actively played games on Steam, with maximum peaks of over a million concurrent players.

Dota 2 is played in matches between two five-player teams, each of which occupies a stronghold in a corner of the playing field. A team wins by destroying the other side's "Ancient" building, located within the opposing stronghold. Each player controls one of 111 playable "Hero" characters that feature unique powers and styles of play. During a match, the player collects gold, items, and experience points for their Hero, while combating Heroes of the opposite team.

Evil Geniuses

Evil Geniuses (EG) is an eSports organization based in the San Francisco, California, United States. Founded in 1999 by Alexander Garfield, the organization fields players in various fighting games, Dota 2, League of Legends, StarCraft II, World of Warcraft, and Halo. Evil Geniuses was also considered as one of the best Quake clans in the late 90s.

It is a subsidiary of GoodGame Agency, which in turn is owned by Amazon.com Inc. through its division Twitch. GoodGame Agency also owns Alliance, a similar eSports team for primarily European teams.

History

Evil Geniuses was founded as a Counter-Strike team in Canada in 1999. Philadelphia native and future CEO Alex Garfield started working for the team in 2004.

Evil Geniuses acquired a Defense of the Ancients (Dota) roster on April 12, 2008, made up of players transferring from team eMg. EG entered the StarCraft: Brood War scene on April 25, 2009, with the recruitment of World Cyber Games USA champions Geoff "iNcontroL" Robinson, and Dan "Nyoken" Eidson, along with Eric "G5" Rothmuller, Jake "LzGaMeR" Winstead, and Bryce "Machine" Bates. EG saw its North American DotA squad depart on December 3, 2009, following two months of minimal practice and insufficient exposure.

Defense of the Ancients

Defense of the Ancients (DotA) is a multiplayer online battle arena mod for the video game Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and its expansion, Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, based on the "Aeon of Strife" map for StarCraft. The scenario objective is for each team to destroy the opponents' Ancient, heavily guarded structures at opposing corners of the map. Players use powerful units known as heroes, and are assisted by allied heroes and AI-controlled fighters. As in role-playing games, players level up their heroes and use gold to buy equipment during the mission.

The scenario was developed with the "World Editor" of Reign of Chaos, and was updated upon the release of its expansion, The Frozen Throne. There have been many variations of the original concept; the most popular being DotA Allstars, which eventually was simplified to DotA with the release of version 6.68. This specific scenario has been maintained by several authors during development, the latest of whom is the anonymous developer known as "IceFrog" who has developed the game since 2005.

Team Secret is a global eSports DotA 2 team that formed and debuted on August 27, 2014. The team is self-handled and currently with no sponsor.

2014

BigDaddy and Fly were confirmed to leave Fnatic on July 27, 2014. On August 3, 2014, S4 left Alliance. Some rumors of a new 'all-star' team began to rise on reddit.

Na`Vi posted on their website they released Puppey and Kuroky. On August 27, 2014, Team Secret debuted and showed their roster in a match against Alliance Team Secret withdrew from Star Ladder in November 2014.

2015

After a solid second place in Star-Ladder Series 10, the team announce on their twitter and the DAC site of the departure of Fly and BigDaddy, with Zai and Arteezy taking their place as stand-ins

In the team got a third place in the Dota 2 Asia Championship and decided to stick with their roster, going on to win 5 premier tournaments The team was sent to the losers bracket by ViCi Gaming.

After a very disappointing 7-8 place finish in The International 5, the team mentioned they will have some roster changes. Following a feud with Kuroky, both players left the team. Arteezy went back to his previous team Evil Geniuses and Kuroky to the to-be Team Liquid. On August 15, the team announce that Zai will go and finish school. S4 also rejoins his previous team Alliance
