French Prime Minister Bernard Cazeneuve has described the attack as 'terrorist in nature' and a terror probe has been launched by authorities. An estimated 1,250 people were inside the famous art gallery, home to the Mona Lisa, when the shooting happened. Pictures from inside the museum shows schoolchildren cowering during the emergency lockdown.

Australian group the Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers 24/7 posted the image of six pot plants on its Facebook page on Friday - the question is can you spot which one has a snake hiding in it? It seems hard to fathom but one of the plants in the picture has a huge carpet python wrapped around it. All you have to do is work out exactly where the resting reptile could be.

Liam McAtasney (right inset) is alleged to have robbed and killed his acquaintance, Sarah Stern (right), in the early morning hours of December 3. Preston Taylor (seen with Stern in the lefthand photo and in the left inset photo) allegedly helped him throw Stern's body from a bridge in Belmar, New Jersey. McAtasney is charged with murder, felony murder, robbery, disturbing human remains, and conspiring with another to disturb human remains. He is also being accused of hindering apprehension or prosecution. Taylor, also 19, is alleged to have conspired with McAtasney to cover up the crime and hide evidence.

Jack Palkovic (inset), 21, says he was wearing a 'Make America Great Again' cap and on his way to class Thursday when a white SUV slammed to a stop and two young men ran toward him. One of the men screamed an epithet, grabbed Palkovic's hat and pummeled him before the two got back in the vehicle and tried to drive away. Police arrived, blocked their escape and arrested both men. Palkovic is seen in the above photos as he is filmed while the two men grab his hat and attack him, prompting him to retaliate.

A video clip of President Donald Trump's granddaughter singing in Mandarin to celebrate Lunar New Year has gone viral in China. The clip posted by Trump's daughter Ivanka, after their visit to Chinese Embassy in Washington D.C., shows five-year-old Arabella Kushner wishing a happy new year while playing with a traditional Chinese puppet. The video has been viewed over 18 million times on Chinese social media website Weibo since being uploaded to Ivanka's Instagram page on Thursday.

Ivanka Trump looked somber, right, after it emerged Nordstrom dropped her fashion brand from its stores due to poor sales. The president's daughter was pictured as she left her home in Washington DC. Stores carrying her products were facing boycotts in protest against her father's policy. Nordstrom had previously featured her goods in a prominent position on their website, inset. The company defended the move on Twitter. In response to one outraged Trump supporter, the company claimed: 'Our buying decisions are based on sales, so it was not a political decision for us. We're sorry for your disappointment'. She is seen bottom left in a photo from her website. NEW Fadi Kassar, 40, embraced his daughters Hnan, eight and Lian, five, after they landed at the John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York with his wife Razan (pictured far right) on Thursday night. Razan and their two daughters were sent back to Jordan from an airport in Ukraine last week, after their visas were revoked following Trump's executive order. But they were later allowed to fly to the US as they are among the 872 refugees granted a waiver because they were 'in transit' before the ban was issued.

They then made their way back to Washington, and returned to their home just blocks away from Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump. The pair have been staying on one of Richard Branson's private islands, believed to be the eco-resort island of Moskito, which the Brit owns in addition to Necker, where he keeps a home (pictured with the former first couple on the trip inset left).

Keen-eyed conspiracy theorists had spotted a strange circular object on Google Earth satellite images of Nasa's Jet Propulsion Laboratory near Los Angeles earlier this week. Some alien hunters claimed that the object was a flying saucer. But Nasa engineers have since debunked the theory by taking a selfie with the mystery object. Nasa scientist Dr Nacer Chahat tweeted the photos earlier today.

With a foreclosure auction officially set for March 16 at Rockland County Courthouse, according to recently revealed court documents, the actor's New York home is planned to be sold off to the highest bidder. Back in 2013, Deutsche Bank filed a foreclosure lawsuit against Stephen and his wife, Kennya, accusing them of failing to make payments on their loan on the house. Last year, the bank pleaded for the green light to begin the foreclosure process and to force the actor to pay his current debt owed on the mortgage, which had snowballed into a whopping $1.1 million - plus interest.

Yevgeniu Savenok (pictured inset) pleaded guilty to the brutal murder of his pregnant wife and their unborn son Lyuba, who is pictured with her children, Thursday morning. The murder took place at their home in Eden Prairie, Minnesota in May of 2016. Members of the Eden Prarie Police department were in court to hear his plea, and many described this case as one of the most brutal they had ever investigated. Savenok allegedly stabbed his wife seven or eight times, and she died at the scene. Emergency crew performed an emergency C-section in an attempt to save their unborn son, but he dies minutes after the operation. He was going to be named Ellis.

Officers were called to Korea town at around 2:30pm on Wednesday after reports the 83-year-old woman had been assaulted. Witnesses say that the suspect had punched the grandma in the back of her head, knocking her to the ground. Seng Vongphrachanh, a Koreatown resident who arrived at the scene after the attack and chased after her attacker, claims that she repeatedly yelled 'power is power' and the N-word. Alexis Duvall, 27, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of battery and is currently being held on $50,000 bail.

Streets in the city of Mazatlan in Mexico were flooded after a shark tank at an aquarium cracked and released torrents of water. Around 30 inches of glass detached, causing the tank to burst and water to gush into the streets. A total of 13 sharks and various other fish were located in the tanks and were successfully transferred to new tanks.

Mathieu Villegas, of Montréal, Québec in Canada, filmed himself swimming underwater in Morrison's Quarry, near Ottawa and investigating wreckages. The daredevil completed his dives without any breathing equipment, known as freediving. Footage from the camera shows the 42-year-old exploring a plane wreck before diving 65 feet below the surface to sit on top of a submarine wreck.

A man was left nursing a sore head after taking a golf ball to the face while filming his friend. The funny clip shows the golfer stuck in the sand trap and accidentally hit his friend with a rogue shot when trying to get out. The clip shows the amateur golfer trying to wedge his ball out of the tricky sand trap. The second man who's filming the encounter teases his friend over his poor form saying: 'You're so bad,' only to be shut down seconds later when the ball flies directly at his face. The footage shows the ball flying in slow motion directly towards the camera and the man can be heard grunting in pain at the mobile drops to the floor and the clip cuts out.

Møvik Fort, at Kristiansand in southern Norway, was constructed between 1941 and 1944 by the German navy to help counter the threat from Allied ships. WARNING: DISTRESSING CONTENT A Chinese teenager died today after being thrown out of a malfunctioned swing ride mid-air at an amusement park. The accident occurred at Fengdu County in south-west China's Chongqing city this afternoon, according to local media. The girl, 14, was pronounced dead at the People's Hospital in Fengdu County after failed resuscitation attempts, reports said.

Amazing footage captures the moment 149 baby hawksbill turtles make their way to the ocean for the first time, after hatching on Christmas day near a hotel resort in Jamaica. Due to pollution and a loss of nesting areas caused by human expansion, the hawksbill is a critically endangered species. The charismatic creatures also have particularly slow reproduction rates and are often killed by humans deliberately or accidentally. As a migratory species they rely on the currents and warm streams to direct their movements, only coming together in pairs to mate. The clip showed beach goers forming a guard of honour on the beach while a man dressed in a Father Christmas costume led the sun-kissed festivities. The tiny turtles will take 20 years to fully mature and will make their way to nearby reefs where they feed on sponge found on corals. They return to the shore when they have sufficiently grown to mate.
