'Prep with my man': Ellen Pompeo brings newborn son Eli to work as she gets ready for directorial debut on Grey's Anatomy

It seems she could not wait for the annual bring your child to work day.

For Ellen Pompeo shared a snap of herself toiling away with her newborn son Eli at her side as she prepared for her directorial debut in a forthcoming new episode of Grey's Anatomy on Thursday.

The little fellow, who was born on December 29, was sitting on her lap as she pored over documents for her directorial turn on the show.

Boasting that she was '#multitaskinglikeamofo,' the 47-year-old captioned the Instagram image: 'Directing prep with my mentor and my man.'

The show's lead star is finally following in the footsteps of costars Chandra Wilson and Kevin McKidd who direct several episodes a season.

The actress has been making her boy quite the social media star in recent weeks.

At New Year’s the mother-of-three shared a video of herself blissfully dancing with Eli.

She captioned the clip: 'Boy Crazy....Here's to a year filled with happiness and love! Happy New Year.'

And she joked at her music producer husband's expense when the young fellow was born at the end of December when she shared a clip of them cuddled up together. 

She said: 'Eli Christopher... Chris Ivery just fell a notch.. I've got a new guy.'

The couple started dating after meeting in a Los Angeles grocery store back in 2003, and were married  four years later. New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg served as a witness.

She gave birth to her first child Stella in 2009, and she had another daughter Sienna via surrogate in 2014.

She told Jimmy Kimmel: I was there with her when they inseminated her, and we held hands. I looked into the microscope and I saw the embryo."

I saw the baby, and they put it in a thingy and they inseminated her," 

'And then we held hands and we prayed, we talked to God, and if she was meant to be. 

'He said he was going to try to help us out and now we have a gorgeous baby girl.'
