Beyonce's Coachella headlining act in doubt after surprise pregnancy news

Coachella organisers were reportedly left in the dark about Beyonce's surprise pregnancy, with doubts the expectant mother of twins will be able to perform her headline set.

The 35-year-old singer was confirmed in January as the annual festival's headline performer - the second only woman to do so since Coachella's launch in 1999.

But with Beyonce expected to be around five months pregnant already, there is speculation the singer will not be able to perform at the festival in April at which time she will be in the late stages of pregnancy.

According to TMZ, Coachella production company Goldenvoice - a subsidiary of AEG Live - only discovered the 62-time Grammy nominee was expecting when the news broke on Friday.

However, sources told TMZ Beyonce still intends to perform, assuming she has a healthy pregnancy.

Beyonce is yet to confirm whether she'll perform at Coachella but if her act does go ahead, it will most likely be subdued compared to her high-octane Formation World Tour, which wrapped in October.

Coachella is one of the world's premier musical festivals and runs over two weekends in the Colorado Desert. It is known for its celebrity attendees, headline acts such as Prince, Coldplay, Jay-Z and Paul McCartney, and for drawing a crowd of close to 200,000.

Because of the festival's reputation, Goldvenvoice organisers are said to be unconcerned by the pregnancy and don't feel pressure to secure another headliner because, according to TMZ, it will be easy for them to find a replacement.

Beyonce, who gave birth to daughter Blue Ivy in 2012, is also expected to perform at next week's Grammy Awards where she leads the pack with a staggering nine nominations.

According to Entertainment Tonight, the singer was spotted in Los Angeles rehearsing with backup dancers and a camera crew in tow.

The Texan born singer, who dropped her second surprise album Lemonade in April, is the most nominated woman in Grammy history and second-most awarded female singer.

Beyonce revealed her pregnancy in a highly-stylised Instagram photo on Wednesday which has since been liked 8.8 million times.

She revealed her first pregnancy during a performance at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards in Europe when she was four months pregnant.
