Counsel for Consumer Affairs Victoria told the magistrate that charges had been laid under four sections of the Estate Agents Act and some were indictable, which means they could be heard before a jury in the County Court.

The case relates to the wrongful use of trust accounts money and false accounting, and there are 50 folders are evidence.

The prosecution successfully applied for a six week adjournment so that evidence for further charges could be assessed.

The defence did not object to the delay, stating there may be a plea, but it is not yet ready.

Six LJ Hooker branches run by the pair were shut down by head office.

The case will return to court on March 20.
