Perth's beloved Tricia the Asian elephant is celebrating her 60th birthday today, making her one of the oldest elephants to be cared for by a zoo worldwide.
Perth Zoo treated Tricia to a specially made fruit and bran birthday cake.
A crowd of people, including many excited children, sung Tricia 'Happy Birthday' as she indulged in her treat.
Tricia arrived at Perth Zoo from Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam when she was six years old.
Through a naming competition she was named after Tricia Reschke who was Miss Australia in 1962.
Zookeeper Kirsty Carey has been working with Tricia for the last 11 years and describes her as a "very affectionate elephant".
"It's a pretty special moment for us because we have that strong bond," she said.
"She loves people, she's pretty much our social butterfly. She loves hanging out and chatting with you.
"We love to see our elephants thrive and be happy and healthy and this is exactly what she is at the moment."
Ms Carey agreed that Tricia is a 'Perthonality'.
"Everyone know's Trish, everyone has some kind of connection with Trish, which makes our life a little bit more rewarding as well," she said.
Ms Carey explained that a big issue Asian elephants are facing is habitat destruction.
"Hence why we have a breeding program here in the Australasia region, to keep the genetics as strong as possible and do our part for the conservation," she said.
Tricia has never has any of her own calves, but is "the aunt of everything" and "sees the other elephants as her little ones which she looks out for".
She will spend the rest of her life in Perth Zoo.
