Unitarian church usually refers to a church (either a single church or a group of churches and/or its followers) which follows Unitarianism, a Christian theology. It can also more broadly refer to a church which is a member of an umbrella group with "Unitarian" in its title, such as the Unitarian Universalist Association in the U.S., the Canadian Unitarian Council, and similar bodies.

In Christian and Christian-derived theologies a Unitarian is a follower of, or a member of an organisation that follows, any of several theologies referred to as Unitarianism:
Unitarian Universalism is a liberal religion characterized by a "free and responsible search for truth and meaning". Unitarian Universalists do not share a creed but are unified by their shared search for spiritual growth. As such, the Unitarian Universalist Church (UU) includes many agnostics, theists, and atheists among its membership. The roots of UU are in liberal Christianity, specifically Unitarianism and Universalism. Unitarian Universalists state that from these traditions comes a deep regard for intellectual freedom and inclusive love, so that congregations and members seek inspiration and derive insight from all major world religions.
The beliefs of individual Unitarian Universalists range widely, including atheism, agnosticism, pantheism, deism, Judaism, Islam,Christianity, neopaganism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Humanism, and many more.
The Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) was formed in 1961, a consolidation of the American Unitarian Association, established in 1825, and the Universalist Church of America, established in 1793. It is headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, and serves churches mostly in the United States. A group of thirty Philippine congregations is represented as a sole member within the UUA. The Canadian Unitarian Council (CUC) became an independent body in 2002. The UUA and CUC are, in turn, two of the seventeen members of the International Council of Unitarians and Universalists.

I am a member of a Unitarian Universalist church and I wanted to answer some questions about what that is and what it means to me. All UU churches or congregations are different, so I am speaking specifically about my experiences with this religion, and can't speak for other communities or individuals. I think it's safe to say that generally we are a welcoming, liberal, progressive organization. We don't tolerate hate toward any groups or individuals. We take a progressive stance on subjects like gay rights and gay pride, feminism, and racial equality. Questions, comments, and further discussion about Unitarian Universalism is always welcome. This is our 2010 update to the 2005 GA "Breakthrough Congregation" Video. It has been presented since that time as an introduction to First Church. In this update Daniel Kanter speaks in his role as our Senior Minister, and Aaron White speaks as Associate Minister. While much in the video is the same, the piece still speaks very well to who we are as a community.
Peter Bowden and the Rev. Amy Freedman explore Unitarian Universalism including common misconceptions people have about this popular liberal religion. ON DEMOGRAPHICS: At the time this video was made (2007) Unitarian Universalists were listed among the top 5 religions according to US Census data. This is with all Christian denominations being grouped as one category. Since then, things have shifted. Now there is a HUGE unaffiliated group and other percentages have changed. You can see the most up to date stats summarized at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_in_the_United_States#Statistics As of Sept 2015 these stats are as follows: "The U.S. Census does not ask about religion. Various groups have conducted surveys to determine approximate percentages of those affiliated with ea...
The historic Unitarian Church in Keokuk Iowa was dedicated on Dec. 2, 1874 and is the oldest standing church in the city. Unitarian Churches were known for their use of logic and reason rather than blind faith in their interpretations of the Bible and this attracted many freethinkers of the time. Among the prominent early church members was a physician and lawyer named Samuel Freeman Miller. Miller, an optimist and progressive rationalist, helped found Keokuk's First Unitarian Church in 1853 and personally drafted its articles of incorporation. Shortly thereafter his business partner, Lewis Reeves, died after contracting Asiatic Cholera. Just a few months later, Samuel Miller's wife Lucy died of "consumption" which is what we now know as Tuberculosis. This series of tragedies left him a si...
