A teenager was sexually assaulted in a park after she was led from a bar in Fitzroy, police say.

Police say the 19-year-old met a man while drinking at a bar on Brunswick Street near the corner of Leicester Street, about 10pm on Friday, January 13.

She told police she was led out of the bar by a man in the early hours of the following morning and taken to a nearby park, possibly a reserve on Cecil Street, where she was sexually assaulted.

The man spoke with a European accent, possibly Swedish or German.

Melbourne Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team detectives have released two images of a man as part of their investigation.

The man is of Caucasian appearance, about 168 centimetres tall, with a medium build.

Police are urging anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the man to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
