Supermarkets have started rationing vegetables amid a shortage caused by floods, snow and storms across the Mediterranean farming belt. Morrisons has imposed a limit of three heads of broccoli and three iceberg lettuces per customer throughout its 492 stores. Some Tesco stores are also carrying a notice capping the number of lettuces customers can buy to just three per person. Shoppers have also taken to social media to share pictures of empty fresh produce aisles from other supermarkets.

Dramatic video clips that show the lead up to the Marine A shooting incident during the Afghanistan War have been released by the Ministry of Defence following a legal challenge. The footage (centre and right) - which has never been seen before - shows the events in the minutes leading up to the incident in which a Taliban fighter was shot dead. Sgt Blackman (left) would later be convicted of murdering the insurgent, who was found wounded after he attacked a British position, and given a 10 year jail sentence, later reduced to eight. The dramatic footage comes from a helmet-mounted video camera worn by one of the junior Marines in Sgt Blackman's patrol. It shows soldiers witnessing the attack by an Apache helicopter on the insurgent's position minutes before the patrol discovered his 'bloodied body'. An appeal against Sgt Blackman's conviction begins next Tuesday and hundreds of ex-Marines and other supporters are expected to travel to the Royal Courts of Justice in London in solidarity.

Carrie-Ann and Emily Crawshaw, of Fareham, Hampshire, are two of around 160,000 children in England who are carers for at least one of their parents. Meanwhile Nathan Boyce, 10, cares for his mother Sarah, inset with Nathan, in Southampton as she has been blind since childhood. A recent study found 130,000 children aged between five and 17 are young carers who were unknown to local authorities.

Betty Boylan's relatives hid the device inside a television after they found unexplained bruising on the retired nurse when they visited her at the £1,000-a-month Perry Locks Care Home in Birmingham. Within days they recorded disturbing footage of carer Bina Begum, 49, lifting the great-grandmother by her head and throwing her back into her chair. Begum avoided a jail sentence after admitting ill treating and neglect.

Six men were given sentences between 10 years and 20 years - and totalling more than 80 years - by a judge who heard details of how two young girls were sexually abused in Rotherham between 1999 and 2001. One victim, in a statement read to the court, said: 'There's evil and truly evil people in the world. I feel my child was the product of pure evil.' Brothers Basharat Dad (bottom centre), 32, Nasar Dad (bottom left), 36, and Tayab Dad (top left), 34, were jailed for sex offences along with Matloob Hussain (top centre), 41, Mohammed Sadiq (top right), 40, and Amjad Ali (bottom right). The sentencing marks the end of a series of three major trials after the Jay Report on child sexual exploitation in Rotherham described how more than 1,400 children had been groomed, trafficked and raped in the South Yorkshire town over a 16-year period. It has led to 18 people being jailed for sentences totalling more than 280 years. There were emotional and chaotic scenes at Sheffield Crown Court after two of the latest defendants shouted 'Allahu Akbar' as they were led from the dock, although it is unclear which ones.

Queen Bey shared the pictures Thursday on her website, the day after announcing she and husband Jay-Z were expecting twins. One of the pictures (upper left), which depicts Beyonce on a lounge chair, is a striking replica of Guido Reni's Reclining Venus With Cupid (upper right), which dates back to the 17th century. Both images show a woman - in one case, Beyonce, in the other, Venus, propped her on her right arm with a young child nearby. In Beyonce's photo, the child is Blue Ivy, whereas in Reni's painting, the child is Cupid - who in classical mythology is often portrayed as Venus' son. Another snap showcases a topless Beyonce with her hand on her left breast and long hair that falls below her belly button (bottom left). Severe weather warnings for wind are in place across the south of England and parts of Wales as a wave of low pressure moves in from the Atlantic. The Met Office has not yet named this band, but the next named storm in the UK will be called Doris. Mobile phone footage shot in Hayle, Cornwall in the early hours of the morning shows power cables sparking as they are hit by strong winds. One resident was woken up by the sound of the explosions, which he likened to fireworks, and the smell of burning. A band of low pressure is bringing stormy weather to Britain.

All good things must come to an end! The Obamas have jetted out of paradise after ten days in the Virgin Islands - with no children and no work obligations. The former first couple - looking understandably relaxed - took off from the island of Tortola on Thursday, as seen in photos obtained exclusively by Dailymail.com. They then made their way back to Washington, and returned to their home just blocks away from Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump. Their motorcade (top right) was seen pulling up to the house, while signs dotted the road on neighboring lawns (bottom right) welcoming the former first family home. The pair have been staying on one of Richard Branson's private islands, believed to be the eco-resort island of Moskito, which the Brit owns in addition to Necker, where he keeps a home.

Sixty protesters in the 'genteel' market town of Morpeth, Northumberland, gathered to save the avenue of 90 35-year-old maples planted honour of the Queen Mother from being felled. But when four policemen and two patrol cars arrived the protesters were forced to retreat or face arrest and the work went ahead. Yesterday the Forestry Commission launched an investigation into the council, who may have breached felling regulations, and ordered them not to fell any more trees. The trees were cut down as part of deeply unpopular plans to redevelop the area and build a retail park, a £5.6million school and 200 homes - but the council does not yet have planning permission.

Police searching for missing RAF gunner Corrie McKeague (left) have released a new CCTV image of a potential witness spotted in the area he was last seen. Mr McKeague, 23, from Fife, Scotland, vanished while on a night out with friends on September 24 in Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk. The last sighting shows him walking from a shop doorway and into a horseshoe-shaped area in Brentgovel Street, with no sign of him emerging. Suffolk Police officers combing through CCTV footage have released stills of three people who have yet to be traced. They are re-issuing some images along with a new image of one person that has now been obtained (right).

London-born Charles Eugster is a two-time world record-holding sprinter. But you won't have seen him in action against Usain Bolt - because Charles's running achievements are in the 95-plus age category, a field in which, you imagine, he doesn't have too many competitors. He's 97 years old and, before you jump to the assumption that he's a lifelong athlete, you should know that he only started running at the age of 95.

The flat in Muswell Hill, north London, was where Nilsen murdered a handful of male escorts before cooking their body parts and eating them. The two-bedroom home seems unremarkable, but it was the subject of a massive police investigation after reports of a strange smell coming from the drains. Officers raided the house and discovered that the odour was from rotting human remains in the house of horrors, also finding body parts in the wardrobes.

Stephen, 27, right, had never known who his father was but had heard rumours that his close friend and next door neighbour, David, left, could be his biological father. They were given the good news on The Jeremy Kyle Show after a DNA test confirmed the truth, inset. Stephen admitted that the possibility of David being his biological father had 'messed with head' after his mother told him it was rubbish. She had, however, had a dalliance with David when they were younger and fallen pregnant with Stephen - but kept David's son from him.

A 12-year-old girl was raped by a family friend who then killed her by throwing her alive down a 330 ft mineshaft, police in Russia said. Suspect Evgeny Bukharin, 40, offered the girl a ride on his snowmobile when she was waiting at a bus stop on a visit to her adult sister, it is alleged. But he took Viktoria Reymer, from the Russian city of Novokuznetsk, to his own house, where he sexually attacked her, according to investigators.

A pilot who survived a plane crash in Alaska along with his family has spoken out about his terrifying ordeal. Josh Smith, his 72-year-old father-in-law John White, and his 12-year-old daughter Danielle had been on the Cessna aircraft. On Sunday, Smith (seen left with his daughter) took off from the Lake Hood Airport and was on his way back home to Kenai. During a side trip, there was too-deep snow on a ridgeline landing strip and the plane flipped (inset) as it stopped. Josh told KTVA: 'We had food and just the bare minimum to stay warm.' He said he and his family stayed in the plane in this sleeping bags, and 'took turns rotating around to share heat'. The family was rescued 24 hours after the scary crash, the U.S. Coast Guard.
