West Coast Eagle and former Brisbane Lion Jack Redden has put his luxury Balmoral home on the market.
Selling agent Karla Lynch said Redden’s “circumstances have permanently changed”, prompting the sale.
“Brisbane won’t be his base anymore,” she said. “So he doesn’t want to have money tied up in Brisbane.”
Redden rented the home out after his move to the Eagles in late 2015, but he and wife Aymee have since decided to let go of the house.
“Their intention was to come back to Brisbane,” Ms Lynch said. “That was their home and they’re a young couple, his wife used the downstairs area as a hair salon.”
The huge Queenslander features four bedrooms, a brand new pool, and city views. Redden paid $1,027,500 for the house in 2013 and made some renovations since, but had to put a hold on any further work.
“The plans have been provided to people so they can see exactly what they can do with the block,” said Ms Lynch.
Competition for the home has been fierce. “It’s right in the middle of the primary schools of St Paul’s and St Peter’s and then you’ve got Bulimba primary,” Ms Lynch said. “The type of buyer we’ve had walking through the front door has been families.”
“The first buyer who walked through the front door wanted it straight away.”
Ms Lynch said a contract for the home was close to being signed, but the deal wasn’t closed just yet.
