'I tried for about nine years': Chrissy Teigen takes down a 'complete witch' who asked her why she didn’t 'try' to to have a baby 'naturally' after she revealed plans to implant last embryo
- Chrissy, 31, has been open about her trouble conceiving children with her husband John Legend
- They already have daughter conceived via IVF, and she said this week that their next would be a boy, because it's the only embryo they have left
- A stranger on Twitter rudely asked her why she didn't try to have a baby naturally, brazenly oblivious to the couple's hardships
- Chrissy shot back and earned herself internet applause
The openness with which some celebrities live their lives can sometimes leave strangers feeling entitled to say things to them they'd never utter to an acquaintance in real life. Most stars shrug these comments off, but Chrissy Teigen had a biting reply for one woman this week who stepped out of line.
Chrissy, 31, had just shared that she and her husband, John Legend, expected their second child to be a boy, since it was the only embryo they had left for IVF.
That's when the stranger, Florida resident Linda Wampler, 62, chimed in with a rude and oblivious question.
Dont' back down! Chrissy Teigen (pictured with husband John Legend) hit out at a Twitter troll this week
The back story: She'd said in an interview that her next child would be a boy, and later clarified that it was because that was the only embryo she had left
The exchange actually began after Chrissy went on Entertainment Tonight and said that she and John — who already have a nine-month-old daughter named Luna Simone Stephens — would have 'a little boy is next for sure'.
Some people seemed to think she would be engineering which type of child she had, so she took to Twitter to explain.
'Since this is coming up again, I said our next baby would be a boy because that is the embryo we have left. A boy. So. Yeah,' she wrote. 'And no, I am not pregnant.'
Soon, Linda decided to reply to Chrissy's tweet, writing: 'Did you give it a minute to try naturally or are you avoiding "the act?" At least no political rants!'
Nasty: Linda Wampler, 62, from Florida rudely assumed — based on no information — that Chrissy didn't try having a baby the natural way, and prodded her about it
MYOB: Chrissy responded, explaining that she had tried, unsuccessful, for nine years
Miracle baby: Her daughter, Luna Simone Stephens, was born via IVF
Of course, Chrissy is not known to back down, and she was quick to defend herself and chastise Linda.
'Hi Linda, thanks for asking, you complete witch,' she wrote. 'I tried for about 9 years. Anything else, let me know!'
Chrissy has been very open about her fertility struggles, making the Twitter user's brazen comment insensitive as well as unnecessary.
'The big question was why this wasn't working for us when I was young and he was healthy,' she confided to Self magazine last year. 'I thought, People get pregnant by accident all the time! How does this happen?'
Open book: Chrissy has spoken openly about her fertility struggles before
She and John want to continue to build their family together
They turned to in vitro fertilization, which was a difficult process: 'Emotionally, it could be really hard. When you have these high-highs and low-lows, and you're, like, cuckoo pants.'
Chrissy's fans also took it upon themselves to defend her and call out Linda for her comments, though the retiree tried to justify her actions by criticizing Chrissy even more.
'Teigen says despicable thing so this way, she gets to reap the results!' she said, implying that the star deserves her nasty comments. She also referred to those criticizing her as 'sheeple'.
Most of her other tweets seem to be filled with insults aimed at Chrissy Teigen, Loni Love, Whitney Cummings, The Talk, The View, Meryl Streep, Saturday Night Live, Alec Baldwin, Jamie Fox, Chelsea handler, and various Bravo reality stars.
