Dramatic video clips that show the lead up to the Marine A shooting incident during the Afghanistan War have been released by the Ministry of Defence following a legal challenge. The footage (pictured) - never seen before - shows the events in the minutes leading up to the incident in which a Taliban fighter was shot dead. Sgt Blackman (inset) would later be convicted of murdering the insurgent, who was found wounded after he attacked a British position, and given a 10 year jail sentence, later reduced to eight.
Bupa carer is caught on hidden camera manhandling dementia patient, 77, then slamming her head against chair at £1,000-a-month home
Betty Boylan's relatives hid the device inside a television after they found unexplained bruising on the retired nurse when they visited her at the £1,000-a-month Perry Locks Care Home in Birmingham. Within days they recorded disturbing footage of carer Bina Begum, 49, lifting the great-grandmother by her head and throwing her back into her chair. Begum avoided a jail sentence after admitting ill treating and neglect.

Rotherham child sex gang shout 'Allahu Akbar' in court as they are jailed for abusing girls including one who became pregnant at just 12 after being groomed with alcohol and drugs
Six men were given sentences between 10 years and 20 years - and totalling more than 80 years - by a judge who heard details of how two young girls were sexually abused in Rotherham between 1999 and 2001. One victim, in a statement read to the court, said: 'There's evil and truly evil people in the world. I feel my child was the product of pure evil.' Brothers Basharat Dad (bottom centre), 32, Nasar Dad (bottom left), 36, and Tayab Dad (top left), 34, were jailed for sex offences along with Matloob Hussain (top centre), 41, Mohammed Sadiq (top right), 40, and Amjad Ali (bottom right). The sentencing marks the end of a series of three major trials after the Jay Report on child sexual exploitation in Rotherham described how more than 1,400 children had been groomed, trafficked and raped in the South Yorkshire town over a 16-year period. It has led to 18 people being jailed for sentences totalling more than 280 years. There were emotional and chaotic scenes at Sheffield Crown Court after two of the latest defendants shouted 'Allahu Akbar' as they were led from the dock, although it is unclear which ones.

New £25million mansion home for anti-capitalist squatters (and their dog) close to Buckingham Palace is owned by Duke of Westminster
About 20 of them occupied the seven-storey building (left and right) close to Buckingham Palace, which is worth up to £25million and was once home to a famous British general and archaeologist. Hugh Richard Louis Grosvenor (top inset), the 25-year-old son of the late Duke of Westminster became one of Britain's most eligible bachelors after inheriting his father's entire £9billion estate. Hugh, who was asked to be Prince George's godfather by Prince William in 2013, also received the family seat in Cheshire, Eaton Hall following the death of his father. The squatters invited homeless people into the Duke's mansion, and said they were hoping to stay there for 'as long as we can'.

Electricity lines EXPLODE as 50mph winds strike Cornwall ahead of the arrival of 'Storm Doris' which will bring gales and downpours this weekend
Mobile phone footage shot in Hayle, Cornwall in the early hours of the morning shows power cables sparking as they are hit by strong winds, pictured right. One resident was woken up by the sound of the explosions, which he likened to fireworks, and the smell of burning. A band of low pressure is bringing stormy weather to Britain. Severe weather warnings for wind are in place across the south of England and parts of Wales as a wave of low pressure moves in from the Atlantic. The Met Office has not yet named this band, but the next named storm in the UK will be called Doris. There could be travel disruption as the storm brings high winds that could fell trees and disrupt power lines. Pictured left, waves batter Penzance in Cornwall this morning.

Musicians Brian Eno and Paloma Faith (centre), comedian Frankie Boyle (right), Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron, and former Labour leader Ed Miliband are among those who have signed an impassioned letter warning Trump's presidency 'is dangerous and divisive', adding, 'it is our duty as citizens to speak out'. Faces of the Scrubs: Prisoners being held at Wormword Scrubs hold up their hands to show off any tattoos or missing fingers in these fascinating mugshots from 1890
A page from an album of criminal register photographs show convicts at the London jail displaying their identifying features. The prints are mounted on paper with handwritten annotations in ink, from a series of 48 individual portraits believed to be part of a larger series. These portraits are unusual compared with the standard of prison photography at the time, in that they combine the profile and frontal portrait in one photograph. A mirror placed on their right shoulder captures their profile. The use of photography to record known criminals - the 'mug shot'- had been in evidence as early as the 1840s.
