I feel politicians take for granted that the youth of today have a full comprehension of the political system and think it's important to spell out the implications of every decision made that will have a direct impact on the lives of the people they serve. So before you switch TV channels when you see this story on the news, maybe stop for a second and consider what it could mean in the long run.
Donald Trump's latest initiative to appease his supporters is not going to solve the war on terror or strengthen his relationship with the Muslim world. His 90 day ban for refugees and green card holders from Iraq, Syria, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Yemen and Sudan has taken America back into the dark ages.
My main worry is the pain we may all go through before this hoped for stability and kindness is in place and for that I can only hope, in the meantime, it is not all as bad as I worry it may be.
This weekend is World Cancer Day; a day which is based around the theme of unity. Cancer affects us all at some point in our lives, may it be ourselves, a family member of a friend. That is why we must remain united in our determination to beat this disease for good.
As the old saying goes, it's always darkest just before the dawn. After the roller coaster ride of 2016, most people thought 2017 couldn't possibly be worse. But it's trying its best.
There have been some voices today, from the usual quarters, pointing out past occasions when the Queen has been forced to endure the company of odious tyrants. The point they're trying to make, of course, is that Donald Trump should be allowed to have his state visit.
During the early period of the Obama presidency, there was a prevalent word that went around news cycles and administration officials; the word "unprecedented". The same word cannot mean the same today as it did in 2008. We cannot define this new America as simply unprecedented. This is a dangerously unprecedented America.
It is widely agreed that social care is in crisis, caused by insufficient funding in the face of growing demand. Over recent months, Tory Ministers have ignored repeated warnings from leaders and professionals in the health and care sectors about the impact of the £4.6 billion of cuts which have been made to Adult Social Care budgets since 2010.
New YouGov data shows that just under half (49%) of Britons believe Donald Trump's proposed state visit later this year should go ahead, while over a third (36%) want it cancelled. The visit, which will see the new president meet with the Queen, has provoked mass protests in the UK and has seen nearly 1.7million people sign the petition calling for the plug to be pulled on Trump's trip. It follows the president's controversial order banning refugees from various countries entering the US.
I campaigned to remain in the EU. My heart is with all of those worried by the result. I wanted to stay in the EU. I want a Labour government. I don't always get what I want, frequently great swathes of the country don't agree with me. Unlike David Cameron I don't just walk away when things don't go my way. I've got a backbone... Bring on all the messages I'll get after I vote about how I'm weak and feeble. Send me letters telling me I sold you out, gave in to the man. Nothing anyone can say will be close to how I've tortured myself over this. Let me assure you my conscience has been exercised.
Despite 25 years of increasing acceptance and visibility, too many young LGBT+ people are entering adulthood severely damaged by the internal and external homophobia, biphobia, or transphobia they face. We need to ensure that mental health services are fit for the next generation of LGBT+ people
The people who are being barred from entering the United States as refugees and immigrants or visitors are actually representatives of the frontline warriors against terror. They are the ones who have suffered more than any other group of people and whose brothers and sisters are currently taking arms against the forces of terror from the icy mountains of Afghanistan to the burning deserts of Iraq and the violent plains of Syria.
Negotiating a trade agreement will not be easy. The UK, however, has some real advantages. Trying to take advantage of these strengths, and build on our long standing common interests is worth a try.
Labour MPs from ex coalfield communities and the National Union of Mineworkers have come together to ask the trustees of the Mineworkers' Pension Scheme for a meeting to review an arrangement that has left ex-miners billions of pounds worse off.
We should not honour or be seen to endorse those who attack or stand against our basic values of humanity and equality. We should choose not to honour those to those who denigrate women, advocate torture, and who demonise people because of their faith. Those are not British values.
There will be no space for mediocre men because the competent and courageous women who were prevented from holding positions of power will now come to fill them, leaving room for their male colleagues who are equally competent and courageous to fill the remaining positions. At such a concerning time in history there is no place for lily-livered leaders of either sex.
As reassuring as it was to see pictures of lawyers working pro-bono at airports across the United States against Trump's #MuslimBan, Leftists need to analyse how the free world got to this point in the first place. In many ways, the fight against Fascism in 2017 will require an earnest attempt to rouse the Left's liberal conscience.
