Traveller’s Big Picture competition

Entries for Traveller’s sixth Big Picture competition for travel photography, in association with Fairfax Media’s Clique Photo Club, are now open.

Clique, presented by Nikon, is run by the photo departments of The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age and aims to inspire people of all skill levels to take better photos.

The winner and a guest will receive the following prize from APT, valued at up to $17,390:

  • Enjoy the adventure of a luxury, eight-day APT Incredible India River Cruise for two in a twin Signature suite. The cruise along the lower Ganges includes stops at Kalna, known as the City of Temples, and a guided cycle-rickshaw tour, an excursion to the brass-working village of Matiari and a visit to the the former French colony of Chandannagar. Highlights include a city tour of Kolkata that explores its colonial heritage, including the bustling Dalhousie Square, St John’s Church and Mullik Ghat Flower Market.
  • Two return economy flights from the winner’s nearest Australian capital city to Kolkata.
  • A framed print of their winning photo.
  • A portfolio review session with a Fairfax photographer.

How to enter

Firstly, make sure you're logged into your Clique or Student Clique account.

  • Photographs entered in Big Picture must have been created since January 1, 2015. Entries created before January 1, 2015 are not eligible.
  • Please include a caption (about 100 words) describing where and when the image was taken and what makes it so memorable.
  • You can enter up to 2 images a week. The weekly deadline is Monday at 12 noon AEST/AEDT.
  • Every week an entrant is selected for the Saturday print edition of Traveller, and a gallery of entries can be viewed at Traveller.com.au.
  • Entry to Traveller’s Big Picture competition for travel photography is open to amateur photographers earning less than $10,000 a year from photography.
