Rubbish tip search for Rachel

Police are preparing to excavate the Bowen dump in a bid to find Rachel Antonio, who went missing in 1998. Nine News

Police say the move comes following "information" provided to them about the case.

Rachel Antonio was 16 when she disappeared in 1998 and her parents believe her body may be hidden in the dump.

Her boyfriend Robert Hytch was found guilty of her manslaughter in 1999 but acquitted after a retrial.

A coronial inquest in 2016 found he most likely killed her but Coroner David O'Connell was unable to ascertain the exact cause of Ms Antonio's death or where her body was.

"Ultimately I cannot determine what Mr Hytch did with Rachel's body unless her remains are located," Mr O'Connell said.

A $250,000 reward for information which leads to the discovery of her body has been offered.
