My Kitchen Rules 2017 cranks up the procreation theme between the singles

It seems hardly surprising that love-making was the subject of the evening during Melbourne midwives Karen and Ros's instant restaurant, which happens to be called Procreations.

From the first episode Bek and Kyle's eyes for each other has been the subject on many of the teams' lips: "So much flirting going on." And even the promos show the pair being on each others' lips, literally.

Flume takes out top spot in this year's Triple J Hottest 100, Nicole Kidman's Lion and Mel Gibson's Hacksaw Ridge nab six Oscar nominations each and police arrest actor Shia LaBeouf at an anti-Trump art exhibition.

Yet viewers have yet to see if their kiss at the dinner table eventuates and that temptation to remain tuned suits Channel Seven, which continues to boast the top rating reality show nationally (even though it dipped from No.1 spot last night in Melbourne) for two consecutive nights.

On Wednesday night, Bek's pussycat talk tickled Kyle's fancy and certainly got him purring.

"I've got a great position on the table tonight; I've got my boy Tim to the right, I've got lovely, uh, young Bek across from me. It's great to be here," says a beaming Kyle.

"Best seat in the house, what's a girl to do," shrugs Bek.

Keep your procreations away from the table suggests Tasmania's Caz, whose partner Damo notes: "They are going to sit all night just gazing at each other."

But Betty, from Sydney, is all for a bit more action at the table. "If you like each other just tell each other," quips Betty. "C'mon make some babies we are at a restaurant where it is procreation. Make some babies already."

It seems that Bek may have something more in mind. "We could have like a wedding and that could be the bouquet," Bek suggests to Betty who is holding a floral posie, which elicits the response from teammates Betty and David: "#GetARoom"

If romance is in the air for Kyle and Bek it certainly wasn't for David and Betty.

Despite David's first impression of Betty being "hot, not as tatt[oo]ed as she is now but still very beautiful", which he relayed to the cameras on Tuesday night, they have been earmarked as "#JustFriends" by the show.

That label was put to the test on Wednesday night's episode.

When quizzed early in the night by "Tassie sweethearts" Damo and Caz about whether they had ever dated it quickly became apparent that after eight years of knowing Betty, David would consider dating her if only he could claw his way out of "the friends' zone".

"Me and David are really good friends, we're almost like brother and sister," says Betty.

David who has previously been married while Betty has been in a series of long-term relationships are now both single.

"So who knows what's going to happen," pipes up Bek.

"Yeah Bek I'm waiting to see what happens," says a joking David, as Betty quickly shoots down the notion with a "It's not going to happen".

"Look we're probably going to have a meaning, after years, which is more of a friends zone and she calls you her brother; Bro, sis'," says a reticent David.

But many at the table could see through David's cool and accepting exterior with comments flowing thick and fast to the camera.

"He is so deep in that friends' zone right now that he's drowning," says Kyle, with a laugh.

But Kyle had the smile wiped off his face when Bek's coquettish sights flashed to married hosts Pete and Manu. Bek and Ash are next to cook so there won't be any romantic dinner chat next round.
