The brother of alleged Bourke Street killer Dimitrious Gargasoulas has appeared in court, sporting a cast on his right arm after he was allegedly stabbed by his brother hours before the alleged rampage through Melbourne's CBD.
Angelo Gargasoulas fronted Melbourne Magistrates Court on Thursday on charges unrelated to those of his brother, who currently faces five counts of murder.
A sixth person, a 33-year-old woman, died in hospital on Monday night, 10 days after more than 30 pedestrians were hit by a car in Melbourne's CBD.
Charge sheets released by the court allege Angelo Gargasoulas unlawfully assaulted a person in Windsor on December 18 last year and also caused damage worth $100 to household goods. The charges were laid last year.
The court did not release the name of the person who Mr Gargasoulas is alleged to have assaulted.
He appeared before deputy chief magistrate Felicity Broughton with a cast and bandage on his right forearm and with what appeared to be stitches on the left side of his head.
He was allegedly stabbed by his brother on the morning of January 20 and, the court heard, was discharged from hospital this week.
He was to have appeared in court on Tuesday, but a police prosecutor said Mr Gargasoulas was at a medical appointment that day.
He had his bail extended and is due to return to court on February 17.
Dimitrious Gargasoulas, 26, is charged with murdering 10-year-old Thalia Hakin; Jess Mudie, 22; Matthew Si, 33; a 25-year-old man and Zachary Bryant, a three-month-old baby boy.
He is in custody and due to appear before the court in August. More charges are pending.
Angelo Gargasoulas on Sunday posted a Facebook message sending his support to the families involved in the tragedy and urging Melbourne to "stay strong".
In the message he also wrote he was fortunate to be alive but had "some recovery time to do".
