An Ironman 70.3, also known as a Half Ironman, is one of a series of long distance triathlon races organized by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC). The "70.3" refers to the total distance in miles (113.0 km) covered in the race, consisting of a 1.2-mile (1.9 km) swim, a 56-mile (90 km) bike ride, and a 13.1-mile (21.1 km) run. Each distance of the swim, bike, and run segments is half the distance of that segment in an Ironman triathlon. The Ironman 70.3 series culminates each year with a World Championship competition, of which competitors qualify for during the 70.3 series in the 12 months prior to the championship race. In addition to the World Championship race, Ironman 70.3 championship competitions are also held for the European, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America regions.
The time needed by an athlete to complete a 70.3 distance event varies from race to race and can be influenced by external factors. These factors include the terrain and the total elevation gained and lost on the course, weather conditions, and course conditions. Finish times range from sub-4 hour completion times by elite level athletes to the imposed race cut off, which is commonly 8 hours and 30 minutes after the start time.
A world championship is generally an international sports competition open to elite competitors from across the world, representing their nations, and winning such an event will be considered the highest or near highest achievement in the sport or contest.
The title is usually awarded through a combination of specific contests or, less commonly, ranking systems (e.g. the ICC Test Championship), or a combination of the two (e.g. World Triathlon Championships in Triathlon). This determines a 'world champion', who or which is commonly considered the best nation, team, individual (or other entity) in the world in a particular field, although the vagaries of sport ensure that the competitor recognised at the best in an event is not always the 'world champion' (see Underdog).
Certain sports do not have a world championship, instead they may organise a world cup competition, or they may organize both. Often, the use of the term cup or championship in this sense is just a choice of words. Some sports have multiple champions because of multiple organizations such as mixed martial arts, boxing and wrestling.
Iron Man (Tony Stark) is a Marvel Comics superhero.

An IRONMAN 70.3 is a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, and a 13.1 mile run. What makes someone who's never done it before want to tackle an IRONMAN 70.3? For first-timers Drew Bollea and James Howard, it comes down to one word: inspiration. "I've just been inspired by so many folks who got off the couch and said I'm going to get off the couch and do this," said James Howard. "So that's how it really started, inspiration from the first IRONMAN and my wife kind of getting me to go after it," said Drew Bollea. "I guess the easiest thing to say is you have to start somewhere," said Howard. The biggest tip from the first timers is finding a training plan. They say it's important to stick to it. It is possible to start from the very beginning. "I've never competed, I've never ran...
2 years in the making, this is my story of training for and competing in a Half Ironman race. This has been a goal of mine for a very long time. I was not sure if work/family/social life was going to allow it. Like anything worth doing, you need to make sacrifices in certain areas to allow growth in others. There is a ton of blood, sweat, and tears put into this video. This is by far my most epic life achievement so far. If it was easy...everyone would be doing it. SWIM BIKE RUN! Big thanks to my family for putting up with my training schedule. More thanks to my brothers for being my training partners and video/photo crew when needed.
