Like

In the English language, the word like has a very flexible range of uses, ranging from conventional to non-standard. It can be used as a noun, verb, adverb, adjective, preposition, particle, conjunction, hedge, filler, and quotative.

As a preposition used in comparisons

Like is one of the words in the English language that can introduce a simile (a stylistic device comparing two dissimilar ideas) as in, "He plays like Okocha". It can also be used in non-simile comparisons such as, "He has a toy like hers".

As a conjunction

Like is often used in place of the subordinating conjunction as, or as if. Examples:

Many people became aware of the two options in 1954, when a famous ad campaign for Winston cigarettes introduced the slogan "Winston tastes good — like a cigarette should." The slogan was criticized for its usage by prescriptivists, the "as" construction being considered more proper. Winston countered with another ad, featuring a woman with greying hair in a bun who insists that ought to be "Winston tastes good as a cigarette should" and is shouted down by happy cigarette smokers asking "What do you want — good grammar or good taste?"

Meghan Trainor

Meghan Elizabeth Trainor (born December 22, 1993) is an American singer-songwriter and record producer. Born and raised in Nantucket, Massachusetts, Trainor wrote, recorded, performed and produced three independently-released albums between ages 15 and 17. In 2011, she signed a publishing deal with Big Yellow Dog Music, and pursued a career in songwriting.

After signing a record deal with Epic Records in 2014, Trainor rose to fame with the release of major-label debut studio album, Title (2015). The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and produced four top 20 singles: "All About That Bass", "Lips Are Movin", "Dear Future Husband", and "Like I'm Gonna Lose You". Later certified platinum by the RIAA, the record passed one million sales domestically.

Prominently influenced by the 1950s and 1960s eras in music, Trainor's music has been noted for its retro style aesthetic. Common themes in her lyrics include subjects of modern womanhood, body image, and empowerment. Trainor's work has been recognized with several awards and nominations, including the Music Business Association's Breakthrough Artist of the Year accolade and two Billboard Music Awards.

John Legend

John Roger Stephens (born December 28, 1978), better known by his stage name John Legend, is an American singer, songwriter and actor. He has won nine Grammy Awards, one Golden Globe, and one Academy Award. In 2007, Legend received the Hal David Starlight Award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Prior to the release of Legend's debut album, his career gained momentum through a series of successful collaborations with multiple established artists. He sang in Magnetic Man's "Getting Nowhere," Kanye West's "All of the Lights", on Slum Village's "Selfish", and Dilated Peoples' "This Way". Other artists included Jay Z's "Encore", and he sang backing vocals on Alicia Keys' 2003 song "You Don't Know My Name", the Kanye West remix of Britney Spears' "Me Against the Music", and Fort Minor's "High Road". Legend played piano on Lauryn Hill's "Everything Is Everything". He has gained chart topping hits from his solo work as well, including the Billboard Hot 100 number-one single, "All of Me". He won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2015 for writing the song "Glory" from the film Selma.

Lose You

"Lose You" is an Italo disco song written by Peaches and Simian Mobile Disco, and produced by Simian Mobile Disco. It is the second single from the album I Feel Cream. Alternatively, the "Lose You (DJ Hell Remix)" was released in Germany by International DeeJay Gigolo Records. The version "Lose You" (vs. Drums of Death) appeared on the iTunes and Japan bonus disks for I Feel Cream.

Critical reception

"Lose You" received generally positive reviews from critics. Matthew Perpetua of Pitchfork Media wrote that the song "casts aside the baggage of the Peaches persona and is better for it, and the variation in vocal technique broadens the range of the record considerably." Gordon Bruce of The Skinny gave the song 4 out of 5 stars, describing the song as a "brooding electronic number" that proves Peaches' versatility. By contrast, Erin Lyndal Martin of PopMatters wrote a slightly more critical review, saying that "'Lose You' is a retro treat that wouldn’t sound out of place amidst "Heart of Glass"-era Blondie, but its repetitiveness makes the three and a half minutes seem a bit longer than it is." In addition, Heather Phares of Allmusic wrote that "'Lose You,' an icy, fragile ballad, is pretty but doesn't quite work as a way to show Peaches' vulnerable side."

Mike Diva

Mike Dahlquist (born June 23, 1987), better known as Mike Diva, is an American film and music video director, special effects artist, and YouTube personality. In 2012 Diva collaborated with other YouTube stars Joe Penna, Tay Zonday, Corridor Digital and DeStorm Power to create the YouTube group and channel BAMMO.

Career

Diva has participated in interviews with New Media Rockstars,SanDiego.com, and Fuse.

He has created several popular videos such as Kill The Noise and Kali 47 among others.

Diva also appeared as Bruce Lee in episode 25, "Clint Eastwood vs. Bruce Lee", of the web series Epic Rap Battles of History.

He was programmer and lead singer for the band "Vyncent Flaw" alongside keyboardist "Maxx Jenga". In 2012 he abandoned the original band name and now makes music under the name Mike Diva.

He has made official music videos for 3OH!3, Kill the Noise, Peter Pepper, The M Machine, and Mindless Self Indulgence. Most of his music is currently on soundcloud; songs include BFD (Ben Franklin's D***) and GameFire v1.
