The Keystone Film Company, under the guidance of pioneering producer and director Mack Sennett, was the birthplace of classic American slapstick comedy. This historic studio was at one time home to a staggering number of silent screen luminaries including Mabel Normand, Roscoe “Fatty” Arbuckle, Harold Lloyd, Gloria Swanson, Wallace Beery, Harry Langdon, Marie Dressler, Ben Turpin, The Keystone Cops, Ford Sterling, Charley Chase, Al St. John, Mack Swain, Edgar Kennedy, Billy Bevan, Louise Fazenda, Eddie Quillan, and countless others. Even Hollywood icon Charlie Chaplin introduced his beloved Tramp character under the auspices of Keystone. Later, under the Mack Sennett Comedies banner, Sennett went on to produce a new generation of sound comedies, some in early color, featuring the likes of W.C. Fields, Bing Crosby, Lloyd Hamilton, Andy Clyde, and more.
While the Sennett and Keystone names are permanently etched in Hollywood history, time has not been kind to the original films which made generations laugh for over a century. Of the approximately 1000 titles produced by Sennett throughout his career only several hundred are known to survive – some only in fragmentary form. Most of the original negatives are gone, lost to nitrate decomposition, wear, neglect, and destruction. Some titles survive by way of heavily edited reissue prints, battered 1950’s television prints, toy films, and 16mm home rental versions. Further, there is no single source from which the remaining Sennett library can be accessed.
Now, for the first time, 50 of the best surviving Sennett comedies have been gathered from around the world to be fully restored and digitally remastered in HD by CineMuseum, LLC & Keystone Films, LLC! These new editions have been painstakingly reconstructed using original 35mm nitrate, archival negatives, preservation materials, and sometimes the lone known surviving film print, from the collections of the Library of Congress, the Museum of Modern Art, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Blackhawk Films, Lobster Films, and dozens of privately held archives.
This volume premieres a wealth of rare, unknown, and previously thought lost footage which had been locked away in vaults and unseen for nearly 100 years!
Finally, these long neglected classic comedies may once again be seen as originally intended.

Mack Sennett
Mack Sennett (born Michael Sinnott; January 17, 1880 – November 5, 1960) was a Canadian-born American director and actor and was known as the innovator of slapstick comedy in film. During his lifetime he was known at times as the "King of Comedy". His short Wrestling Swordfish was awarded the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film in 1932 and he earned an Academy Honorary Award in 1937.
Early life
Born Michael Sinnott in Richmond Ste-Bibiane Parish, Quebec, Canada, he was the son of Irish Catholic John Sinnott and Catherine Foy, married 1879 in Tingwick St-Patrice Parish (Québec). The newlyweds moved the same year to Richmond, where John Sinnott was hired as a laborer. By 1883, when Michael's brother George was born, John Sinnott was working in Richmond as an innkeeper; he worked as an innkeeper for many years afterward. John Sinnott and Catherine Foy had all their children and raised their family in Richmond, then a small Eastern Townships village. At that time, Michael's grandparents were living in Danville, Québec. When he was 17, Michael Sinnott moved to Connecticut.

Charlie Chaplin
Sir Charles Spencer "Charlie" Chaplin, KBE (16 April 1889 – 25 December 1977) was an English comic actor, filmmaker, and composer who rose to fame in the silent era. Chaplin became a worldwide icon through his screen persona "the Tramp" and is considered one of the most important figures in the history of the film industry. His career spanned more than 75 years, from childhood in the Victorian era until a year before his death in 1977, and encompassed both adulation and controversy.
Chaplin's childhood in London was one of poverty and hardship. As his father was absent and his mother struggled financially, he was sent to a workhouse twice before the age of nine. When he was 14, his mother was committed to a mental asylum. Chaplin began performing at an early age, touring music halls and later working as a stage actor and comedian. At 19 he was signed to the prestigious Fred Karno company, which took him to America. Chaplin was scouted for the film industry, and began appearing in 1914 for Keystone Studios. He soon developed the Tramp persona and formed a large fan base. Chaplin directed his own films from an early stage, and continued to hone his craft as he moved to the Essanay, Mutual, and First National corporations. By 1918, he was one of the best known figures in the world.

Of the approximately 1000 titles produced by Sennett throughout his career only several hundred are known to survive – some only in fragmentary form. Most of the original negatives are gone, lost to nitrate decomposition, wear, neglect, and destruction. Some titles survive by way of heavily edited reissue prints, battered 1950’s television prints, toy films, and 16mm home rental versions. Further, there is no single source from which the remaining Sennett library can be accessed.
Now, for the first time, 50 of the best surviving Sennett comedies have been gathered from around the world to be fully restored and digitally remastered in HD by CineMuseum, LLC & Keystone Films, LLC! These new editions have been painstakingly reconstructed using original 35mm nitrate, archival negatives, preservation materials, and sometimes the lone known surviving film print, from the collections of the Library of Congress, the Museum of Modern Art, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Blackhawk Films, Lobster Films, and dozens of privately held archives.
This volume premieres a wealth of rare, unknown, and previously thought lost footage which had been locked away in vaults and unseen for nearly 100 years!
Finally, these long neglected classic comedies may once again be seen as originally intended.

Mack Sennett bathing beauties were pin-up girls for the soldiers of the First World War. Gloria Swanson, Marie Prevost, Phyllis Haver, Juanita Hansen, Claire Anderson, and Mary Thurman were Sennett bathing girls at this time. Comedy pioneer Mack Sennett was best known for his rollicking and outrageous slapstick comedies, which often included the bumbling antics of his Keystone cops and such vaudeville comedy stunts as the pie-in-the-face gag. Particularly popular were Sennett's "bathing beauties," a group of young starlets who appeared bare-legged in Sennett's comedies. He next joins some dubious characters in abduction of his rival just before the race for the Vanderbilt Cup. With her boyfriend locked up in a shed, Mabel takes his place. Charlie does what he can to sabotage the race, even causing Mabel's car to overturn. Charles Chaplin's quarrelling with Mabel Normand on this film almost ended Chaplin's film career. He disagreed with her ideas for comedy and she was quick to dismiss his own ideas for more refined comic business. An argument ensued (according to Chaplin in his autobiography, one or two extras had wanted to 'slug' him but Normand had stopped them) and filming for that day was called off. Frank "Yeeesssss" Nelson plays the station manager. Mack Sennett shows up in the latter part of the film. Renny McEvoy is the booth engineer.

The discovery was made by Swedish firm Interspectral, which carried out 3D CT scans on the crocodile. A previous study in the 1990s had revealed the enormous adult was in fact accompanied by a second crocodile, but failed to spot the individually wrapped babies – of which there appear to be at least 47. Curator Lara Weiss believes the reptiles were probably mummified as an offering to the crocodile god Sobek, BBC News reports....
