Rough sleepers outside Flinders Street Station will be removed from the area this morning so some refurbishment works can get underway.
Pat Mitchell from 3AW reports the moves will not happen until after the peak-hour commute.
Activists have assembled at the area and said they will prevent the dozen or so rough sleepers from being moved on.

We've all been there. You wake up with a bit of a cough. So you run a quick Google search to do an amateur diagnosis. Google then tells you it's full blown tuberculosis and you've got 10 minutes left to live.
I'm exaggerating, sure, but there are definitely risks of getting an inaccurate prognosis from Dr Google.
To fix this, the search giant has launched its health condition cards in Australia, designed to answer users' health-related questions, queries and curiosities.
Health editor Kate Aubusson has the story: Dr Google makes Australian house calls with launch of new Health Condition Cards
Side note: during my stint as a health reporter here, I was running searches for so many diseases and ailments that Google started serving me ads for funeral homes.

There has been an earth tremor out towards Morwell this morning, which has shaken up locals (no pun intended).
3AW caller Alan said the shaking woke him up.
"At 6.40 this morning the house shook and rumbled and woke both my wife and I up," he said. "We live just at Jeeralang Junction, which is next to the Morwell National Park."
Paul said he heard the wardrobe cupboard rattle: "yeah, it was a nice wake up call," he told 3AW.
And Anne said her sister-in-law was still recovering from the tremor:
"My sister-in-law felt it really bad in Mirboo North. It was like a truck going past. She is till shaking," she said.
Were you affected by the earth tremor? Let me know.
There has been a minor earthquake in the Morwell area, in the state's east.
3AW has received a couple of calls from people who were woken by some tremors early this morning.
The Geoscience Australia website confirms there has been a tremor in the area.

A new high-security youth justice centre will be built by the state government in Werribee South, Cameron Houston, Chris Vedalago and Josh Gordon report.
The announcement follows a string of violent uprisings, escapes and several damning reviews of existing facilities at Malmsbury and Parkville.
The Andrews government is expected to announce the 250-bed youth detention centre within weeks in a desperate bid to staunch the crisis that has plagued Victoria's youth justice system and threatens the government's re-election prospects.

It is 15 degrees outside at the moment, which is the coldest it has been since last Wednesday.
Luckily, it will warm up today and we're headed towards a partly cloudy day with a top of 23 degrees.
The rest of the week is also looking good - not too warm, not too fine.
