Woman inadvertently drives car into Swan River

A car that plunged into the Swan River just off Mounts Bay Road in Crawley seems to have been caused by inattention on the road by the driver.

Main Roads said the incident happened around 5.30pm on Tuesday, with the female driver behind the wheel unhurt.

The woman in her fifties says she was looking at her GPS when she swerved off Mounts Bay Road and in to the River. Vision: Today Perth News.

Police and emergency services attended the scene near Hackett Drive, with motorists warned to avoid the area as the incident caused traffic to build up in the area.

Several reports said the woman behind the wheel drove into the river after a moment of inattention checking her GPS.

A crane was brought in to remove the black Toyota from the water.
