NEW Following the failures of the top four to win on Tuesday, Manchester United and Manchester City will hope to take full advantage from their mid-week Premier League fixtures. Wins for both would leave just three points separating second to sixth in the table as United host Hull City and Pep Guardiola's outfit travel to West Ham United. Stoke City and Everton will also be in action when the teams clash at the bet 365 Stadium. Follow all the action as it happens.

JEFF POWELL EXCLUSIVE: The immaculate boxer who calls himself Son Of God had barely settled into one of those deep, soft sofas at The Dorchester where the pampered and privileged take tea when a question about that nickname made him sit bolt upright. Andre Ward was startled to be asked if his S.O.G. pseudonym reflects a belief that he really is descended from the Almighty. ‘Surely people don’t really think that,’ said the world light-heavyweight champion who many do believe is the best fighter on Earth.

Chelsea will miss Ivanovic... he's the 'animal with a big heart' who had a direct line to Abramovich and won the lot
Right backs don’t typically boast a catalogue of memorable goals. But Branislav Ivanovic had always offered more than your average full back in his nine years at Chelsea… starting with an Anfield brace in the Champions League, furthered by an extra-time winner against Napoli and capped by a Europa League final decider in Amsterdam. Until a humbling decline in his last 18 months in west London, the departing Serbian defender was a defining, dominant force in the Blues’ trophy-winning teams of the last decade. Chelsea always knew they could rely on Ivanovic.
First day at work! Liverpool legend Gerrard begins new chapter as academy coach
Anyone watching Liverpool vs Chelsea on television on Tuesday evening could be forgiven for assuming that Steven Gerrard has opted for a career away from the training ground following his retirement. The former Liverpool captain has been an insightful member of BT Sport's punditry team since leaving LA Galaxy, but his in-studio celebration when Georginio Wijnaldum equalised in the 57th minute suggested his heart will always lie at Anfield. Further evidence of that claim was witnessed on Wednesday when he returned to Liverpool's Kirkby academy to begin a new chapter with the club as a youth coach

Rodriguez cheered on by 9,000 fans at Las Palmas homecoming… now he can prove there is more to him than rap videos and false starts at Real Madrid
Middlesbrough were keen to sign him but there probably wouldn't have been 9,000 supporters at the Riverside to catch a first glimpse of Spanish forward Jese had completed his move to Teesside. Watching his emotional homecoming it was easy to see why he had taken a pay-cut to move back to Gran Canaria. 'I don't consider myself a Galatico, I am just like any other player,' he said as he took the microphone.

Payet wiped from history! West Ham replace star's mural with Carroll wonder goal tribute in time for visit of Manchester City
West Ham stationed a security guard outside the Dimitri Payet mural at the London stadium to prevent vandalism when news broke of his attempts to leave the club earlier this month. Now, they've come up with a more permanent solution. Payet has of course left the Hammers to re-join Marseille in a transfer worth £25million, leaving more than a few critics back in east London despite his assertion that he didn't owe fans an apology for his behaviour. The club have moved swiftly to replace the tribute to their former French playmaker, using a graphic of striker Andy Carroll's wondergoal against Crystal Palace in its place, while surrounding it with accolades from fans.

SIX NATIONS COUNTDOWN
Six Nations rookie Hughes backed by Gustard to match his opposite No 8 Picamoles in France opener
England's rookie No 8 Nathan Hughes has been backed to match his giant French opposite man Louis Picamoles when the two teams meet at Twickenham on Saturday. With only one international start to his name, against Australia last autumn, Hughes will be the least experienced player in England’s pack when they get their RBS 6 Nations title defence underway this weekend. In the absence of Billy Vunipola, Hughes will be tasked with doing the bulk of England’s carrying while attempting to negate the threat of the hulking 19st Picamoles, who will be winning his 58th cap and has been in outstanding form in the Aviva Premiership for his new club Northampton this season.
Sexton ruled out of Six Nations opener as Lions coach Gatland watches Ireland train ahead of Scotland clash
Flanker Peter O'Mahony will also miss the Scotland clash after suffering a hamstring strain, but Ireland will feel the loss of linchpin fly-half Sexton most acutely. Paddy Jackson should now start at fly-half in Edinburgh, while late squad addition Ian Keatley could be eyeing his first Test action in almost two years off the bench.

Aubameyang is NOT Real Madrid's top transfer target despite jeers for Benzema
PETE JENSON: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has hinted at a Borussia Dortmund exit next summer and with Karim Benzema jeered at every turn at the Santiago Bernabeu there is a potential vacancy at Real Madrid. As the winter window closed the Gabon forward had one eye on it re-opening next summer saying: 'I will have to look at the options. There is more to life than Madrid but they continue to be the dream.' It's well documented that Aubameyang promised his grandfather he would play for Real Madrid one day. And he was impressive earlier in the season when the two sides were in the same Champions League group.
Payet gets standing ovation on Marseille return before helping them to beat Lyon

The 29-year-old playmaker completed a £25million move back to his old club on Sunday after becoming unhappy at West Ham. Payet, who had refused to play for the Premier League club as he looked to force through a transfer, heard his name chanted by the home support before kick-off.

England ready to pile into France as stars train ahead of Twickenham curtain-raiser (and Eddie shows off his black eye again!)
England coach Eddie Jones put his players, including captain Dylan Hartley, through their paces in training on Tuesday as they prepared for their Six Nations opener on Saturday.
