He was driven to hospital in a critical condition by a friend, having suffered stab wounds to his chest and head.

Hours after the alleged stabbing at the Raleigh Street public housing unit, Dimitrious Gargasoulas is accused of ploughing through lunchtime crowds in a car on Bourke Street. Six people were killed, including a three-month-old baby boy and a 10-year-old girl.

On Sunday, Angelo took to social media to send a message of support to "all the families involved in the tragedy".

Dimitrious is currently charged with five counts of murder.

Angelo was due to face the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Tuesday on charges which are unrelated to those of his brother.

However magistrate Felicity Broughton criticised police prosecutors for wanting to arrest the injured Angelo for not turning up to court.

She dismissed a police request to issue an arrest warrant for failing to appear.

Ms Broughton refused a media request for access to the charge sheets given the accused man was not in court, and did not have a lawyer there.

Angelo is due to face court on Thursday.
