Australind father and son are 'accidental millionaires'

Western Australia's latest Lotto millionaires "accidentally" bought a Monday Lotto ticket instead of a Saturday ticket. The fairly innocent mistake won them $1 million.

The winners, a father and son from Australind, now plan to celebrate over a couple of "tinnies."

What happens when you win lotto?

It's a dream for many but only a handful of lucky people will get to experience the process of what happens if you come across those winning numbers.

They were the only people in Australia to win on Monday night.

"We usually play Saturday Lotto together," the father said. "But I got my days mixed up and bought the wrong ticket.

"We aren't flashy people, so I'm not sure how we'll spend the money but we'll definitely celebrate over a tinny."

The win marks the seventh division one ticket sold in WA in January.

The father has used the same set of Lotto numbers for almost 40 years.

Lotterywest spokeswoman Pina Compagnone said in January, West Australians shared in almost $29 million in prize money.

"We've definitely started 2017 with a bang," she said.

A whopping $10 million Powerball jackpot is up for grabs on Thursday followed by a $30 million OZ Lotto jackpot next Tuesday.

"The $30 million jackpot is the largest offered across the nation this year so fingers crossed WA can take home a share," Ms Compagnone said.
