At 1.58pm emergency services were called to the fast food joint on Sunset Boulevard near the CNN building in Hollywood. There are reports that a man wielding a knife was in the area threatening to stab people on the busy street. Four people suffered stab and gunshot wounds. The suspect is dead and two victims are critically injured and one is in stable condition according to Los Angeles police.

A 14-year-old autistic boy who is accused of stabbing his mother to death before being found hiding under floorboards with her blood dripping over him will be charged as an adult for the crime. Miguel Cano confessed to the Greenville County Sheriff's Office that he stabbed his mother, Isabel Cristina Zuluaga, 44, to death in September 2015 at their home in Simpsonville, South Carolina. Cano, who was aged 13 at the time of the incident, allegedly used a large knife to kill his mother right before bedtime. A contractor who entered the property to carry out repair work first discovered Cano hiding in a crawlspace under the house with blood dripping through the floorboards above him. The contractor then went inside the home and found the mother dead in a bedroom, according to the sheriff's office.

William Riley Gaul, 18, of Knoxville, Tennessee was released on $1million bail Monday. He is charged with shooting his cheerleader girlfriend, Emma Walker, 16, to death after their breakup. Family say that Emma broke up with him in the weeks before her murder and he had stalked her. He is accused of stealing his grandfather's gun to use in the killing. He must wear a GPS ankle monitor during his release. His next court date is February 13.

Three people were discovered dead inside a burned Washington state home as part of what authorities are calling a quadruple murder. The bodies of Christale Careaga, 37, her 16-year-old son Johnathon Higgins and Hunter Schaap, also 16, were found in the Seabeck residence, according to the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office. Deputies went to the house late Friday night regarding a 911 call that there was violence inside. They weren't able to enter the home at first because it was ablaze, with the bodies found after the fire was over. The Kitsap County Sheriff's office said Saturday that police were looking for 43-year-old John Careaga and his Ford truck. The truck was later found to have been burned, and contained human remains, which were revealed to be John Careaga's on Tuesday evening. Demi Lovato's $8million Hollywood Hills home (circled) is at risk of sliding down a cliff after a landslide sent tons of dirt and mud crashing into the two houses next door to hers. The singer's house was red-tagged on Monday night when mud and debris from the backyard of a home above hers slid downhill towards her property. The landslide blocked off access to Lovato's home from the street and crashed into the properties next door, trapping some of her neighbors inside their houses and burying at least one car. It caused the evacuation of several homes in the Laurel Canyon area and knocked out electricity to 400 nearby residents when debris buried two power poles and took down power lines.

The Cold War military base Camp Century contains over 50,000 gallons of diesel fuel, 6,340,000 gallons of wastewater, and an unknown amount of low-level radioactive waste and PCBs. Scientists now estimate that the snow and ice that sealed the base will melt away by the end of the century as a result of climate change, potentially releasing the hazardous chemicals. New maps from NASA's Earth Observatory reveal just how extreme this ice loss could be, with some areas surrounding Camp Century expected to shed 10 or more feet from the surface per year. Camp Century was built in 1959 in northwest Greenland by the US Army Corps of Engineers, 8m beneath the surface of the ice sheet.
