Democrats warned of a possible filibuster to block Gorsuch, noting that Republicans blocked former president Barack Obama’s final Supreme Court nominee for most of 2016. “This is a stolen seat,” Sen. The party boycotted one Senate committee, then invoked an arcane rule in another — theatrics that prompted a bitter showdown with Republicans who accused them of paralyzing the formation of a new administration.

Bannon became President Trump’s chief White House strategist, he was developing and articulating a fiery populist vision for remaking the United States and its role in the world. Now, at the center of power in the new administration, Bannon is moving quickly to turn his ideas into policy on issues such as trade and immigration.
For hours, at the gathering in Philadelphia, the mysterious intruder strolled around what should have been one of the most tightly secured buildings in the country — posing, organizers say, as “a spouse of an elected official.” Secret recordings of the closed sessions, including one in which Republicans fretted over the Affordable Care Act, were later emailed to media outlets.
