change

What makes us comfortable and happy at one point in life can soon turn into a suffocating rut. And it happens so quickly that we may even ignore some of the common signs that we need to make a change. Here are some of those signs so that you can keep an eye out for them.

1. Distraction

If you know what you should be doing, but you keep putting it off until the last minute, that could be a sign that you’re on the edge of needing a change. Sometimes the bathroom renovation starts off with a gung-ho effort, but over time you find yourself finding other jobs to do so that you don’t have to do the tiling anymore.

2. Motivation

If the paycheck isn’t enough to rouse you into action, it might be a sign that your heart is just not in it anymore. Often the money for doing a job can at first give us enough of a high to keep doing it. But after a while your true self can start to question whether this is enough to sustain you for the long term.

3. Apathy

Feeling bored or irritated by the current situation is the first sign that things are amiss. Perhaps you loved your sales job at first, but now the pressure to perform is getting to you and you don’t have the love you once did. This can quickly see you feeling frustrated and stuck. This uncomfortable feeling is a sign that things need to be shaken up in order to stay motivated.

4. Staleness

Another sure sign of needing a change is when the things you used to love doing have lost their shine. For instance you used to love reading, but now you can’t be bothered to pick up the latest novel. You may have loved spending time with your friends, but now it is making you stressed or exhausted. Listen to what your mind is telling you, as it might just mean that you need to take a break away from the routine for a while. Beach holiday, anyone?

Have you ever made a big change in your life? How did you know that it was time?
