Anthem

An anthem is a musical composition of celebration, usually used as a symbol for a distinct group, particularly the national anthems of countries. Originally, and in music theory and religious contexts, it also refers more particularly to short sacred choral work and still more particularly to a specific form of Anglican church music.

Etymology

Anthem is derived from the Greek ἀντίφωνα (antíphōna) via Old English antefn. Both words originally referred to antiphons, a call-and-response style of singing. The adjectival form is "anthemic".

History

Anthems were originally a form of liturgical music. In the Church of England, the rubric appoints them to follow the third collect at morning and evening prayer. Several anthems are included in the British coronation service. The words are selected from Holy Scripture or in some cases from the Liturgy and the music is generally more elaborate and varied than that of psalm or hymn tunes. Being written for a trained choir rather than the congregation, the Anglican anthem is analogous to the motet of the Roman Catholic and Lutheran Churches but represents an essentially English musical form. Anthems may be described as "verse", "full", or "full with verse", depending on whether they are intended for soloists, the full choir, or both.

Shah Rukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan (born Shahrukh Khan, 2 November 1965), also known as SRK, is an Indian film actor, producer and television personality. Referred to in the media as the "Baadshah of Bollywood", "King of Bollywood" or "King Khan", he has appeared in more than 80 Bollywood films, and earned numerous accolades, including 14 Filmfare Awards. Khan has a significant following in Asia and the Indian diaspora worldwide. In terms of audience size and income, he has been described as one of the most successful film stars in the world.

Party Rock

Party Rock is the debut studio album by American electronic duo LMFAO, released on July 7, 2009 by Interscope Records. "I'm in Miami Bitch" was the first single released from the album in late 2008. The second single was "La La La" released on September 8, 2009. The third single, "Shots" was released on October 13, 2009. "Yes" was released on December 15, 2009 as the fourth single from the album.

Background

The album has prominent electronic characteristics with influences of hip hop, 1980s synthpop and dance with lyrics about partying, and having a good time in the night life. The EP version was released on July 1, 2008 to iTunes. The album was nominated at the 52nd Grammy Awards for Best Electronic/Dance Album but lost to Lady Gaga's The Fame. It was tracked and mixed at KMA Music in Manhattan. LMFAO started in 2008 with their single "I'm in Miami Bitch".

"Party Rock Anthem" is a song performed by the American hip-hop and EDM recording duo, LMFAO, featuring British singer Lauren Bennett and American music producer GoonRock. It was released as the first single from their second album Sorry for Party Rocking in 2011. It interpolates lyrics from Rick Ross's song "Hustlin'".

The single went to number one in Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, New Zealand, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States. It also reached the top five in Finland, Italy, Norway, Poland and Sweden. Worldwide, it was the third best-selling digital single of 2011 with sales of 9.7 million copies. It is the third best-selling digital song in US history. Party Rock Anthem is currently ranked Billboard's 5th most successful song of all time. It is currently the eighteenth most viewed video on YouTube, with over 1.03 billion views.

"Party Rock Anthem" is a mostly electronic composition. Being featured in the 2012 film 21 Jump Street, it won the MTV Movie Award for Best Music. The song also won the "Favorite Song" award at the 2012 Kids' Choice Awards.
