Jonathan Coulton (born December 1, 1970) is an American singer-songwriter, known for his songs about geek culture and his use of the Internet to draw fans. Among his most popular songs are "Code Monkey", "Skullcrusher Mountain", "Re: Your Brains", "Still Alive" and "Want You Gone" (the last three being featured in games developed by Valve: Left 4 Dead 2, Portal, and Portal 2 respectively).
His album Artificial Heart was the first to chart, eventually reaching #1 on Billboard's Top Heatseekers and #125 in the Billboard 200.
Coulton's music tends to fit a folk rock style, with elements of pop and indie rock.
Coulton graduated in 1993 from Yale, where he was a member of the Yale Whiffenpoofs. A former computer programmer employed at Cluen, a New York City software company, and self-described geek, Coulton tended to write quirky, witty lyrics about science fiction and technology: a man who thinks in simian terms, a mad scientist who falls in love with one of his captives, and the dangers of bacteria. Rare topical songs include 2005's "W's Duty", which sampled President George W. Bush, and 2006's "Tom Cruise Crazy". Most of Coulton's recordings feature his singing over guitar, bass, and drums; some also feature the various other instruments Coulton plays, including accordion, harmonica, mandolin, banjo, ukulele, zendrum and glockenspiel.
Our Bodies, Ourselves is a book about women's health and sexuality produced by the nonprofit organization Our Bodies Ourselves (originally called the Boston Women's Health Book Collective). First published in 1971, it contains information related to many aspects of women's health and sexuality, including sexual health, sexual orientation, gender identity, birth control, abortion, pregnancy and childbirth, violence and abuse and menopause. The most recent edition of the book was published in 2011. This informational book about women’s health advised women to claim their sexuality for their own pleasure, and included chapters about reproductive health and rights, and lesbian sexuality and independence. This was revolutionary because the move toward women’s active engagement with their actual sexual desires was contradicting the popular gendered myth of “women as docile, and passive,” and “men as active and aggressive” in a sexual relationship.
The book has been translated and adapted by women's groups around the world and is available in 29 languages. Sales for all the books exceed four million copies. The New York Times has called the seminal book "America's best-selling book on all aspects of women's health" and a "feminist classic".
Dieter Duhm, sociologist, psychoanalyst, art historian and author, is one of the co-founders of Tamera, a peace research center in southwestern Portugal.
Born in Berlin, Germany in 1942, Duhm lived through the bombing of Berlin as a very young child, as well as the poverty and hunger in the postwar period, and those experiences would shape his thinking and actions throughout his life.
In 1969 Duhm completed his B.A. in psychology and in 1973 he earned his Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Freiburg.
But it was the Vietnam War that catapulted him into a leadership role in the Marxist Left of the German Student Movement and made him a staunch critic of western capitalism. He wrote an essay called, The structure of material goods and destroyed inter-personality, which was published as a book in Cologne, Germany in 1975, and Fear in Capitalism: A second attempt at a social substantiation of inter-personal fear in material capitalist society, which became a best-seller three times: in 1973, the 14th edition in 1977, and the 17th edition in 1984.

Thing a Week is a series of studio albums released by rock musician Jonathan Coulton in 2006. He compiled these albums from his highly successful weekly podcast, where he challenged himself to write, record, and produce a new song within a week, every week, for an entire year. He had done that to prove to himself, and to fans, that he was capable of working with a deadline.
Thing a Week One is the first album of the series, and Jonathan Coulton's fourth studio album. It contains some of Coulton's earliest hit songs, including "Shop Vac" and a cover of Sir Mix-a-Lot's "Baby Got Back." This album also features "W's Duty," one of very few songs Coulton has written about a real life topic. The tenth Thing a Week, "When I'm 25 or 64", is missing from this album due to its illegality (it is a mashup of The Beatles' "When I'm Sixty-Four "and Chicago's "25 or 6 to 4"). It may be freely downloaded from Coulton's website. As such, this is the only Thing a Week album without at least 13 tracks (compare Thing a Week Four, which has 14).

My first video, I Feel Fantastic by Jonathan Coulton Album: Our Bodies, Ourselves, Our Cybernetic Arms
Coulton's feeling about that certain state. I agree with him, but only because there's lots of earthquakes over there. Other than that, it's cool to me. www.jonathancoulton.com P.S. this song goes right before track 6 (Christmas is Interesting), but I had not obtained a recording of the song at that time, so I never uploaded it. Aside from this, the tracks are in the order they were in on the album. I do not own the full album, just MOST of it. Tracks 1. I'm Having a Party 2. Bozo's Lament 3. Kenesaw Mountain Landis 4. Ikea 5. I Hate California 6. Christmas is Interesting 7. Over There 8. Millionaire Girlfriend 9. First of May 10. De-Evolving 11. I'm a Mason Now 12. Overhead Copyright 2003 to Jonathan Coulton. Originally off of Jonathan Coulton's Our Bodies, Ourselves, and Our Cybernetic Arms (2005) The song is about a couple and one of them undergoes a large variety of surgeries to improve themselves.

Naomi is 16, and works with us at photography factory when she is off school pretty much as an equal member. Lets be honest age is irrelevant in a great picture, plus she has a sense of the social media space to rival the best new media agency analysts. All the newest trends are always playing out as only she predicts. Her detailed clear and analysis of youth culture on the internet is worth a million dollars to us and she is a key member of our team. More importantly her simple black and white photographic portraits are utterly brilliant, an evocation of sub suburban teenage life as seen though the eyes of a 15 (now 16) year old girl. But on the day of this slow motion test Naomi was not her normal beautiful smiling dry sarcastic self (think Juno with a camera). Recently she had a relatio...
Working together with Onesize we created the Playgrounds festival opening titles. Basically it are two guys beating the shit out of each other. It was very important to give the movie a high end feeling. While there was a small budget it looks like it was created with a big budget. It has the look and feel of a movie filmed with an expensive high-speed camera. But actually the complete movie is build up out of photographs only. Quoted from Onesize (with whom I created this piece with): The film was created in little over 2 weeks. Playgrounds director Leon van Rooij asked us, like 6 months ago, if we wanted to do the titles for this years' fest. I quote: "Playgrounds is a two-day festival in Tilburg, the Netherlands, where you can see the best digital audiovisual art in the world, such a...
The Maneki Neko (jap., literally Beckoning Cat; aka Lucky Cat, Money Cat) is a common Japanese figurine which is believed to bring luck, attract customers and bring prosperity. The Lucky Cat waves with the raised left paw and holds a historic coin in front of itself with the right one. The Lucky Cat as talisman and selling product is wide-spread in Asia and meanwhile almost all over the world. Luck is associated here with monetary and material prosperity. For tourists the Lucky Cat became a kind of pop style Manga character which appears in growing numbers in western private households. As kitschy-petite like exotic souvenir it refers to a certain idea of western lifestyle. The material element of the installation»The Global Pursuit of Happiness, or: The Army of Luck« is the »Lucky Cats' M...
After few days in Paris and few days in Moscow, here we go to NYC ! (CJ Wellsmore, Miriam & myself (Anthony Finocchiaro ) We went there for 3 reasons, the first one was the New York Battle (B.Oneil invitational), the second was to make some pictures in this awesome city and the third one was to test the latest prototypes of CJ promodel street skates. It was a long time since I came here, and I was still amazed by the city which never sleeps. CJ is not a "Broadway movie star", but as soon as we started walking in the main streets, we were approached by a guy "Hey ! CJ Wellsmore !!??" and this happened few times during our trip ! Weird ! After a ton of buffalo wings, a 5th place at the competition, few gaps & wallrides, and many bottles of coke, our next stop is California. Our landing po...
Years ago someone told me that 1,200 high school kids were given a survey. A question was posed to them: Have you ever been to a stand-alone record shop? The number of kids that answered "yes" was... zero. Zero? How could that be possible? Then I got realistic and thought to myself, "Can you blame them?" How can record shops (or any shop for that matter) compete with Netflix, TiVo, video games that take months to complete, cable, texting, the Internet, etc. etc? Getting out of your chair at home to experience something in the real world has started to become a rare occurrence, and to a lot of people, an unnecessary one. Why go to a bookstore and get a real book? You can just download it. Why talk to other human beings, discuss different authors, writing styles and influences? Just clic...

I quote: "Playgrounds is a two-day festival in Tilburg, the Netherlands, where you can see the best digital audiovisual art in the world, such as musicvideos, animations, commercials, character design, VFX and games AND you can find out how it's been made during artist lectures and Q&A;'s." Of course we said yes, because doing titles for festivals like these are rare opportunities. So we welcomed it with open arms. Next to that, we've been involved in the festival for 3 years now and we are the first ones to design a title sequence for this festival. What a burden... ;) With no creative brief and even less budget, we slowly start...
Are myths the fruit of prohibitions? Myths are the unknown, what’s untenable, inaccessible; once you access a myth it stops been one. So, do we impose emotional censorship to ourselves? What are the limits? What’s acceptable and what’s not and why? Are we restricted by physical issues or should we be more afraid of our emotional fragility? "Gay" ©2010 More works at: www.stuartalexander.net/wp/projects I made these films in the early mornings over the last year with a hidden camera and without the subject’s knowing or consent. Some films were made by chance depending on a suitable person choosing to sit opposite me and how they chose to sit and some were the result of where I chose to sit based on the same dependant factors. All films were made on the London underground exclusively on the Northern Line. As the subjects are faceless it makes it easier for the audience to relate to them leading to the question, does the male audience relate and feel uncomfortable at me speculatively putting them into this context of “prey” or object of homosexual desire? Are they offended? Do they now question their own sexuality? Or my moral...
CREATE ORIGINALS™ welcomes its two newest riders Alex Broskow & Chris Farmer to the 2010 Pro Team. Anything worth doing is worth doing right and we wanted to welcome our new riders to the team with open arms. So when Chris Farmer and Alex Broskow were ready to make the commitment and join the ranks of the Create Originals Pro-team we felt we had to go the extra mile. We could have just had them send in some footage but we felt it was just as important to get hot footage as it was to get everyone together and skate as a team. Airline tickets were booked, the Kelso cruiser was fueled and arrangements were made for our team to have the 50,000 square foot Rye Airfield Skatepark all to ourselves for not 1 or 2 but 3 CO only sessions. Here is some more of what went down... ENJOY! On another ...
"Terence Kemp McKenna (November 16, 1946 – April 3, 2000) was a modern philosopher, whose main interest was psychedelics and their role in society and existence beyond the physical body" -Wikipedia This is one of my favorite speech, Terence teach us to think for ourselves and to enjoy every moment of our lives. This is one of his many speeches that changed my perception of life, Terence made me realized how we can enjoy our lives at it's full capacity by enjoying every little thing that happens through our every day live. Be not afraid, you are a god, a creator with unlimited potential. ------------------- "I have realized that the past and the future are real illusions, that they exist only in the present, which is what th...

Jonathan Coulton quit his day job as a software developer in 2005 to become a full-time musician, starting with a risky experiment to record a new song every week for a year. The result, Thing A Week, launched his independent career. He's responsible for some of geek culture's greatest anthems — "Code Monkey", "Re: Your Brains", and the closing themes for Portal and Portal 2. His most recent album, Artificial Heart, reached #1 on Billboard's Top Heatseekers Chart. I've been holding these very special videos back as part of the Jonathan Coulton Day (December 1st...it's his birthday you know) celebrations. This video is from an unexpected interview I had with Jonathan over Tuna Melts in a Cafe. The sound could be better, and I was not prepared, I hadn't expected to do the interview at that moment, and had no notes with me. Jonathan Coulton Day was started in 2007 by the fans of Jonathan Coulton, to focus all our efforts on a single day to get Jonathan Coulton know by more people. The day is Jonathan's birthday, so it was the fans present to Jonathan. To find out more about Jonathan, visit his website at http://www.jonathancoulton.com

I may go back and upload the rest of this albu...
Originally off of Jonathan Coulton's Our Bodies, Ourselves, and Our Cybernetic Arms (2005) The song is about a couple and one of them undergoes a large variety of surgeries to improve themselves.

We examine the concepts of cyborgs, clarify what they are and how they differ from bionics, androids, and similar concepts.
The film was created in little over 2 weeks. Playgrounds director Leon van Rooij asked us, like 6 months ago, if we wanted to do the titles for this years' fest.
Do what you feel, not what your told. Think for yourself. Be not afraid, you are a god, a creator with unlimited potential. ------------------- "I have realized that the past and the future are real illusions, that they exist only in the present, which is what th...
I'm breathing stale air that circulates around me.
We're calling out, paralyzed, choking on luxury.
There's a battle approaching, these are conflicted times.
Surpass devastation, and realign.
I never saw the daylight, I let the shadows persuade me.
Bring convelesance home and guide me.
And now I see it, it's right in from of me, the answer.
If we rip our feet away from these chains, we'll stand together.
This design was built to withstand everything.
I've got the power to make you bold.
Breathing life in the comatose with a spineless gasp and pull.
Deceiver,
Living life never made you alive, handing life to a feeding plaque.
