A suspect identified through DNA in the slaying of the ex-wife of Righteous Brothers singer Bill Medley is dead, officials announced Monday. Investigators believe Kenneth Eugene Troyer (inset) was responsible for the January 1976 slaying of 32-year-old Karen Klaas (pictured left with Bill Medley in 1969), Los Angeles County Sheriff Jim McDonnell said. Troyer was killed by police in 1982. Klaas was attacked on January 30, 1976 as she returned to her home in the Hermosa Beach neighborhood. She was sexually assaulted and strangled with her pantyhose in the horrific attack. Klaas never regained consciousness and died a few days later at the hospital. Medley (pictured right on Monday) said: 'It's just nice to be able to close the book on this.'

Alexandre Bissonnette arrived at a Quebec City courthouse on Monday night (left) charged with six counts of murder and five of attempted murder. He is suspected of opening fire on them as they attended evening prayers at the Quebec City Islamic Cultural Center on Sunday. The 27-year-old student from the affluent suburb of Cap-Rouge was described by classmates as a pro-Trump loner who did not fit in well at Laval University where is studying anthropology and political sciences. He was arrested on Sunday night after phoning police himself from his Mitsubishi where investigators allegedly found two rifles and an AK-47. Fathers Azzedine Soufiane (second bottom right), Boubaker Thabti, (far top right) and Khaled Belkacemi (second top right) are among the dead.

The widow of NFL star and soldier Pat Tillman (right) says she is 'deeply saddened' by Donald Trump's executive order on immigration, and accused it of going against what America claims to represent. Marie Tillman (left, in her wedding photo) posted a message on Facebook on Saturday night, as thousands across the country were protesting against Trump's decree (inset) banning people from seven countries from entering the US. 'In 2002 my husband enlisted in the US Army, he stood up to serve because he believed in the principles on which our country was founded and, recognizing it wasn't perfect, was passionate about what it could be,' she wrote. 'I am deeply saddened by the news of the executive order banning immigration. This is not the country he dreamed of, not what he served for and not what he died for.' Pat Tillman left behind a multi-million-dollar contract with the Arizona Cardinals at 25 to join the Army, eight months after the September 11 terrorist attacks. He was killed in 2004.

A video showing a Muslim-American woman remaining calm while being harassed and called a 'b****' inside of an Atlanta-area coffee shop has gone viral. Asma Elhuni was sitting at a table inside Joe's Coffee Shop located in the East Atlanta Village on January 28th when a man apparently took a photo of her. Elhuni, who is an American citizen and a Georgia State University political science graduate student that is also a legislative intern for State Rep. Brenda Lopez, is heard asking the man who identified himself as Rob, why he took a photo. To which he eventually responded asking her why she is 'so uptight' before calling her a 'b****' moments later. Rob then took it a step further asking if she had a 'green card'. The video of the encounter has been shared over a million times on Facebook since being shared two days ago.

President Barack Obama has weighed in publicly on a political issue for the first time since leaving office - sending out support for demonstrations that have spread across the country in protest at Donald Trump's immigration order. President Obama released a statement saying he is 'heartened by the level of engagement taking place in communities around the country.' He added he, 'fundamentally disagrees with the notion of discriminating against individuals because of their faith or religion'. Obama said during his final White House press conference that while he planned to stay on the sidelines during the Trump years, he reserved the right to become a vocal advocate at 'certain moments where I think our core values may be at stake.'

San Francisco slugger Aubrey Huff took to twitter to rail against against protesters clogging up airports around the world in response to Trump's executive orders banning travel from certain countries. He wrote in a tweet on Sunday night, which he later appeared to have deleted, 'I mean seriously, what the hell is going on? If you have time 2 march, protest and riot. Maybe it's time for something called a job!'

It used to be the most prestigious award a musician could hope to receive, but now the Grammys are having a hard time just getting their nominees to even show up. Insiders say A-list musicians including Kanye West, Justin Bieber and Drake are all planning on boycotting the ceremony on February 12.

Jennifer Asbenson was just 19 when she was abducted by Andrew Urdiales in 1992, in Desert Hot Springs, California. Urdiales killed at least eight women, and Asbenson is the only of his victims known to escape. Asbenson recently returned to what she says is the exact scene of her abduction and assault to shoot a video of her recollections about the attack. 'I wanted my viewers to be there with me, in real time,' Ms Asbenson said. 'I thought people would appreciate the rawness of it.'

Although it wasn't police or the FBI who found out who he was, it was carer Debbie Cocker, 48, who was so touched after seeing his story on the news that she spent hours trawling the internet for information and uncovered a bitter tale of family dispute.

Two students have been dismissed from Southwest Baptist University after a upsetting video emerged that appears to show their involvement in an assault at a group home for children.  The university in Bolivar, Missouri, said in a news release Monday that the school reported the allegations to law enforcement upon becoming aware of them. The video shows a Southern Baptist student punching a young boy as he is on the ground. The boy is a resident at Home Court Advantage.

Rachel Adams, from Little Rock, underwent three skin graft surgeries and a medically induced coma after fleeing a man who she said tried to orally rape her. She said her attacker Courvoisiea Allen had given her rides home before. But this time, she said he tried to force her to perform oral sex by threatening her with a knife. She knew she needed to escape by whatever means necessary.

A Myrtle Beach, South Carolina firefighter did not expect he would have to act as a midwife when he was called to an emergency on a seemingly normal November evening. He expected even less that he would become a father to a daughter that night. Marc Hadden said there was no time for him to get the mother in labor to the hospital when he responded to an emergency call.

The OC actress, 31, was filmed ranting incoherently while standing on the fence in her backyard in LA. Barton is seen suddenly crashing to the ground as she loses her footing and falls backwards. The actress was voluntarily taken to hospital Thursday after neighbors found her screaming. Barton said Friday she was out of the hospital after an overnight stay and had found out through doctors that someone had given her GHB on Wednesday night, while she was celebrating her 31st birthday.

Charles E. Miller, 48, stands accused of aggravated assault for punching the auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Newark, Reverend Manuel A. Cruz, during Saturday Mass. Shocking video from the Saturday attack shows Miller approach the altar and punch Cruz, who staggers backward. Miller was followed by a security guard and was immediately detained.

The pumi, the sloughi and the American hairless terrier will be newcomers at next month's Westminster Kennel Club dog show, competing among as many as 202 breeds and varieties for the coveted best in show award. More than 2,800 dogs are expected at the show, set for February 11, 13 and 14. Besides the traditional breed judging, it has added agility and obedience competitions and a non-competitive 'meet the breeds' event in recent years.

While chimpanzees are known to kill rivals from other tribes, intragroup murders such as this are extremely rare, with just nine cases on record to date. Researchers say the unusual ratio of adult males to females in this particular group may have given rise to the grisly encounter, as competition to reproduce intensified.

She died last week at the age of 106, leaving an ever dwindling number of witnesses at the heart of Hitler's years in power.

Rachelle Friedman Chapman, who was paralyzed during her bachelorette party in 2010, was determined to stand with her 20-month-old daughter and husband, Chris, for a photo. In the devastating video, poor Treasure's legs twitch as 10 rodeo workers rush to her aid. Elon Musk's dream for a high speed travel system that uses pneumatic tubes has taken a major step towards reality. Teams of students have tested their half scale pod designs in a specially built 1km long SpaceX test track - with Delft University taking first prize (pictured inset, and inside the test 'tunnel'). The Hyperloop is a ground transport concept proposed by Musk in 2013 to transport 'pods' of 20-to-30 people through a 12-foot diameter tube at roughly 700 mph.

The amazing image was uploaded to Reddit of '80 hawks' being flown on a plane 'by a Saudi prince' which baffled and delighted social media users in equal measure. The transportation of falcons on Middle Eastern airlines is fairly commonplace, with Qatar Airways allowing up to six of the birds to be transported in economy class, with prices ranging from £90 to £500 per bird depending on the destination. The birds were pictured with their wings tied and standing on special cloths to protect the seats.

Heartbreaking video has emerged showing chained infant animals on sale at a market in Bali. The Scorpion Wildlife Trade Monitoring Group uploaded vision of long tailed macaques in chains at the Satria Wildlife Market on the Indonesian island to their social media pages. It prompted an outpouring of emotion, with one Facebook user saying: 'Just breaks my heart'.

A Missouri man used his cane to save a bus driver from a passenger's attack. The good Samaritan was on a bus in Kansas City around 12.30am Saturday morning when a male passenger started becoming violent toward the female bus driver. A cane-wielding passenger came to her rescue and beat the man as the woman ran off the bus.
