Julie Fowlis, 'Uam'

Many of you will have now heard tracks from Julie Fowlis' latest album release "Uam" on Folk Radio UK. Whatever your exposure to Scots Gaelic singing, Julie has, without doubt, made a huge impact in areas that Scots Gaelic singing has never touched before. In terms of how this album compares to her previous work this album's roots dig deeper. There is a great and humble feel to the songs she has selected. This is Julie's bow to her inspiration and to the roots of her music. As she says..."the song is always more important than the singer and must be passed on to survive".

I love Julie's sincerity and it is, for me at least, this that makes this such an extraordinarily moving album. Her best and most beautiful work to date!
