Vlad has produced and directed films. He is also CEO of VladTV.com - a video website that many refer to as "The TMZ of Hip-Hop."
A computer science graduate of UC Berkeley, Vlad began his career as a computer programmer. He eventually started his own dot-com staffing company, GigaStaff.
In 2000, Vlad closed down GigaStaff and turned his attention to music. He moved to New York and helped create Rap Phenomenon along with DJ Dirty Harry. The Rap Phenomenon mixtapes won awards from Rolling Stone, MTV and XXL magazine.
Vlad then turned his attention towards film. He directed on the American Gangster TV Series, as well as the documentary film Ghostride the Whip. KPWR (105.9 FM, Power 106) is a commercial radio station located in Los Angeles, California, broadcasting to the Greater Los Angeles area on an analog signal and in HD Radio. KPWR airs a Rhythmic Top 40 format playing hip hop and R&B with occasional rhythmic pop/dance titles. It is owned and operated by Emmis Communications and is one of its two flagship stations alongside WQHT ("Hot 97") in New York City.
KPWR's studios are based in the Los Angeles suburb of Burbank, and the transmitter is at Mount Wilson.
105.9 FM signed on as easy listening KFI-FM on July 15, 1946, later becoming KBMS in 1958 before adopting the KWST call letters and "K-West 106" moniker in 1969. During its years as KBMS and KWST, its format had been beautiful music prior to its flip to a rock format on January 1, 1975. K-West emulated the then-popular sound of KMET and KLOS. By 1981, though, the ratings had slipped and KWST had changed to a Top 40 format, and let all of their disc jockeys go. KWST eventually evolved into KMGG, or "L.A.'s Magic 106 FM" in summer 1982, and played upbeat Adult Contemporary music.

Russell Simmons sat down with DJ Vlad to talk about his new book The Happy Vegan, and reveals he began living his life like a monk after many years of drug abuse. "We really have issues regarding the consumption of meat. Not only does it make you sick and destroy the planet. But it's the worst karmic disaster in the history of the world." He told DJ Vlad, "You can process a lot of bulls**t you're not supposed to eat, that's bad for your body. Just cause you can process it, does not make it good for you." Watch the full interview above to hear why Russell decided to write the book, how the meat industry's processes are harming the earth as a whole, and much more. Russell Simmons believes that money has nothing to do with one's happiness. Although many spend most of their days trying to make ends meet, whether to pay their bills or save up for their retirements, the mogul believes when their life ends, it's not going to matter. The famed music mogul explained his stance further by explaining that the true goal in life should be enlightenment, not getting rich. When DJ Vlad commented about Russell making a lot of money during his career, Simmons pointed out that he's never chased money, but he's made a lot of money from doing the things he loves. Later on in the interview Russell reacted to Eddie Griffin telling DJ Vlad that media wants to destroy the reputation of all Black entertainers, and Russell said that no one leaves this world clean.
