Ex-Leighton exec Peter Gregg in court over payments

Lawyers for outgoing Primary Health Care chief executive Peter Gregg have appeared in court over allegations he falsified documents when working for Leighton Holdings in relation to payments worth $15 million.

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission alleges Gregg twice breached a section of the Corporation Act in relation to falsifying books during his time as an executive at construction firm Leighton in 2011.

One of the charges relates to Gregg's instructions concerning two payments totalling $15 million to be made from Leighton to Asian Global Projects &Trading; FZE.

The case was briefly mentioned in Sydney's Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday and was adjourned to February 28 when a committal trial timetable should be set.

Gregg has previously denied, through his lawyers, that he breached any civil or criminal law.

He served as deputy chief executive officer and chief financial officer at Leighton between 2009 and 2013 before being appointed Primary Health Care chief executive in 2015.

Primary in mid-January announced the board had accepted Gregg's resignation but said he'd remain in the role until the medical centres and pathology firm found a new chief executive.
