Fairfax audience are sharing news

Fairfax Media recently conducted a study into social networking and has uncovered some interesting findings. In particular, the study found that our audience are sharing news via social media and use social media to influence friends and family.

Highlights of the study include:

  • The Fairfax media audience is sought for their opinion, with 73% agreeing that their ‘friends and family look to them for opinions and influence’
  • Over half (57%) have shared world, national or local news content via email with their family, friends or colleagues
  • Just under half (49%) have shared world, national or local news content on Facebook
  • Close to two-thirds of the Fairfax audience (58%) really enjoy sharing opinions, content, posts and photos on Facebook – this increases to 69% among the Fairfax audience who are aged between 25-29 years
