Jaguar Land Rover’s Global Sales Director Andy Goss has confirmed that the Jaguar XF Sportbrake will be the next Jaguar vehicle to emerge.
Goss made the declaration at the Jaguar Land Rover press conference at the Paris Motor Show, which featured the unveiling of the 2017 Land Rover Discovery.
The more practical XF wagon isn’t set to be unveiled in production guise until 2017, but Mr Goss confirmed that testing was already taking place on public roads in the UK.
As part of the presentation, Mr Goss outlined Jaguar’s existing product portfolio, including XJ, XF, and F-Type as well as the most recent additions, XE and F-Pace before posing the question of what might next join the range.
“So what is the next car? Well it’s been difficult to disguise, as you can see,” Mr Goss announced, revealing an image (top of page) of a disguised camouflaged prototype.
“It’s currently testing on UK roads now in cammo. I’ll show you what it’s like in full, next year, but I think you may have guessed it.”
“Yes, this is the all new XF Sportbrake, and yes, it will be just as handsome, and as practical as the previous one, and like all of our Jaguars it will be available with all-wheel-drive, giving customers confidence whatever the conditions.”
While the previous generation XF Sportbrake wasn’t offered outside of the UK and Europe, the new model has been confirmed for Australia by Jaguar Australia Senior PR Executive, James Scrimshaw.
With the production version yet to be displayed, Mr Scrimshaw wouldn’t be drawn on range or pricing, with more information to be announced when the car is displayed next year.
