Good news for anyone who's tried and failed to get a table at cult CBD pasta bar Tipo 00.

Owners Luke Skidmore, Andreas Papadakis and Alberto Fava have collected the keys to a second Little Bourke Street site, which, until December, housed Scandi-inspired bar duNord.

But they won't be opening a second pasta bar. Instead, they plan to turn the bar into a rustic, timber-heavy wine bar and restaurant. with seats for about 100 and a private dining room.

Papadakis, a former senior chef at Vue de Monde, is working on a European-accented menu, but it won't be fine dining, vows Skidmore. "It will be something casual we'd want to go to ourselves."

Plenty of work is needed to transform the site, says Skidmore. But part of its appeal was a large cellar, which they plan to fill with wines from home and abroad.

"We're trying to resist turning it into another dining room."

The osteria, at 367 Little Bourke Street, Melbourne, is expected to open in late April.
