As a Recruiter for the NY Army National Guard I often am asked what the difference between the Army National Guard and the Army Reserves. As for the "Federal Mission, Absolutely nothing. We train part time in the event our country needs us overseas just like all the branches of the US Military. In addition to that, we actually have more responsibility through our State Mission. We respond at a moments notice to State Emergencies and Natural Disasters and anything in between that our individual state governor deems necessary. Hooah!

The 27th Infantry Division was a unit of the Army National Guard in World War I and World War II. The division traces its history from the New York Division, formed originally in 1908. The 6th Division designation was changed to the 27th Division in July 1917.
When the New York Division was organized in 1908, the New York National Guard became the second state, after Pennsylvania, to structure its National Guard at such a high tactical level in peacetime. The New York Division was called to active duty during the Mexican border crisis of 1916. While on federal duty it was redesignated as the 6th Division in June 1916. It was released from active duty in December 1916, only to be recalled for World War I service in July 1917. The 6th Division was reorganized and redesignated as the 27th Division on 1 October 1917...
Combat chronicle
The first stateside division to be deployed in response to the attack on Pearl Harbor, the 27th Division departed Fort McClellan 14 December 1941 for California to establish blocking positions against an anticipated seaborne invasion of the United States southwestern coast. They were further transferred into the Pacific Theater of Operations and arrived in Hawaii, 21 May 1942, to defend the outer islands from amphibious attack. Divisional units first saw action against the enemy during the attack and capture of Makin Atoll in the Gilbert Islands, 21–24 November 1943. Two battalions of the 106th Regiment participated in the attack on Eniwetok Atoll, 19–26 February 1944, returning to Oahu in March. During this mission, one battalion landed unopposed on Majuro Island, 1 February, and completed its seizure, 3 February. The division began preparations for the Marianas operations, 15 March. On D-day plus 1, 16 June 1944, elements landed at night on Saipan to support the Second and Fourth Marine Divisions. A beachhead was established and Aslito Airfield captured, 18 June. Fighting continued throughout June. Marine General Holland Smith, unsatisfied with the performance of the 27th Division, relieved its commander, Army General Ralph C. Smith., which led to angry recrimination from senior Army commanders, including General George C Marshall. During a pitched battle, 7 July, Japanese overran elements of the division in a banzai attack, but organized resistance was crushed the next day. During the months of July and August, the 27th cleaned out isolated pockets in the mountains and cliffs of Saipan.
Beginning in the middle of August, the division moved to the New Hebrides for rest and rehabilitation. On 25 March 1945, the 27th sailed from Espiritu Santo, arriving at Okinawa, 9 April 1945. The Division participated in the XXIV Corps general attack, 19 April 1945, securing a dominating ridge line south of Machinato and Kakazu. Machinato Airfield was captured, 28 April, after a severe struggle. On 1 May, the division was relieved by the 1st Marine Division and attached to the Island Command for garrison duty. Tori Shima was seized, 12 May, without opposition. The 27th attacked from the south end of Ishikawa Isthmus to sweep the northern sector of Okinawa. The enemy fought bitterly on Onnatake Hill from 23 May until 2 June, before losing the strong point. After a mopping-up period, the division left Okinawa, 7 September 1945, moved to Japan and occupied Niigata and Fukushima Prefectures...
The division was reformed as a National Guard formation on 21 April 1947. The division was reconstituted along the lines of its war time structure with limited reorganizations...

Today is about making mistakes and failures while in Army Basic Combat Training. It's going to happen and it's not personal. One team, one fight and everyone pays for it together. So, if you make a mistake or your battle buddy makes a mistake... Be prepared for the Drill Sgt's to conduct "Corrective Training" or Collective Punishment." It's a fact of life in training and get over it. Help out your battle buddy if they make mistakes and help prevent future mistakes.
Don't get stuck with the mentality that "You're not going to help out that knucklehead," because he made you do extra push-ups. Watch each-others backs, help each-other out and remember that basic combat training is all about attention to detail and teamwork is the key! ****It's not personal. If you take it personal, you will fall into the moral sucking abyss lol. Embrace the suck.

York (
i/ˈjɔːrk/) is a historic walled city at the confluence of the rivers Ouse and Foss in North Yorkshire, England, and is the traditional county town of Yorkshire to which it gives its name. The city has a rich heritage and has provided the backdrop to major political events in England throughout much of its two millennia of existence. The 27th Infantry Division was a unit of the Army National Guard in World War I and World War II. The division traces its history from the New York Division, formed originally in 1908. The 6th Division designation was changed to the 27th Division in July 1917.
When the New York Division was organized in 1908, the New York National Guard became the second state, after Pennsylvania, to structure its National Guard at such a high tactical level in peacetime. The New York Division was called to active duty during the Mexican border crisis of 1916. While on federal duty it was redesignated as the 6th Division in June 1916. It was released from active duty in December 1916, only to be recalled for World War I service in July 1917. The 6th Division was reorganized and redesignated as the 27th Division on 1 October 1917...
Combat chronicle
The first stateside division to be deployed in response to the attack on Pearl Harbor, the 27th Division departed Fort McClellan 14 December 1941 for California to establish blocking positions against an anticipated seaborne invasion of the United States southwestern coast. They were further transferred into the Pacific Theater of Operations and arrived in Hawaii, 21 May 1942, to defend the outer islands from amphibious attack. Divisional units first saw action against the enemy during the attack and capture of Makin Atoll in the Gilbert Islands, 21–24 November 1943. Two battalions of the 106th Regiment participated in the attack on Eniwetok Atoll, 19–26 February 1944, returning to Oahu in March. During this mission, one battalion landed unopposed on Majuro Island, 1 February, and completed its seizure, 3 February. The division began preparations for the Marianas operations, 15 March. On D-day plus 1, 16 June 1944, elements landed at night on Saipan to support the Second and Fourth Marine Divisions. A beachhead was established and Aslito Airfield captured, 18 June. Fighting continued throughout June. Marine General Holland Smith, unsatisfied with the performance of the 27th Division, relieved its commander, Army General Ralph C. Smith., which led to angry recrimination from senior Army commanders, including General George C Marshall. During a pitched battle, 7 July, Japanese overran elements of the division in a banzai attack, but organized resistance was crushed the next day. During the months of July and August, the 27th cleaned out isolated pockets in the mountains and cliffs of Saipan.
Beginning in the middle of August, the division moved to the New Hebrides for rest and rehabilitation. On 25 March 1945, the 27th sailed from Espiritu Santo, arriving at Okinawa, 9 April 1945. The Division participated in the XXIV Corps general attack, 19 April 1945, securing a dominating ridge line south of Machinato and Kakazu. Machinato Airfield was captured, 28 April, after a severe struggle. On 1 May, the division was relieved by the 1st Marine Division and attached to the Island Command for garrison duty. Tori Shima was seized, 12 May, without opposition. The 27th attacked from the south end of Ishikawa Isthmus to sweep the northern sector of Okinawa. The enemy fought bitterly on Onnatake Hill from 23 May until 2 June, before losing the strong point. After a mopping-up period, the division left Okinawa, 7 September 1945, moved to Japan and occupied Niigata and Fukushima Prefectures...

Today is about making mistakes and failures while in Army Basic Combat Training. It's going to happen and it's not personal. One team, one fight and everyone pays for it together. So, if you make a mistake or your battle buddy makes a mistake... Be prepared for the Drill Sgt's to conduct "Corrective Training" or Collective Punishment." It's a fact of life in training and get over it. Help out your battle buddy if they make mistakes and help prevent future mistakes.
Don't get stuck with the mentality that "You're not going to help out that knucklehead," because he made you do extra push-ups. Watch each-others backs, help each-other out and remember that basic combat training is all about attention to detail and teamwork is the key! ****It's not personal. If you take it personal, you will fall into the moral sucking abyss lol. Embrace the suck.

Here are some Things to do in NYC :) This 1st of a "Things to do in NYC" is the BASICS. I will do more in depth videos on neighborhoods like Harlem, Brooklyn, Lower East Side which will include shopping, entertainment, eating, all that :) But for now I hope you find this helpful and excited about exploring NYC. I didn't "forget" to list anything. This is just the first video and trust their are a million things to do. Sorry for not including Brooklyn. Need to get around? Rent a bike! I have yet to try this but it seems fabulous! Save your feet and cover more ground. These bikes and bike spots are all over the city. A perfect way to burn calories and see more of the city faster.

Summer in NYC isn't really summer until you get your butt on a rooftop. My pick was Jimmy Rooftop. Sunday's after 3pm are bomb! Amazing music courtesy of DJ Cato. I believe it is doorman discretion, which means, dress your best and don't travel with a bunch of dudes. You get an amazing view of the sun setting over the Hudson River and you get to splash around in the pool if you so choose. I chose this spot because I used to work here and loved it!

Yes! Go to Church! After you party it up Saturday night or Sunday afternoon bring your sinful behind to this awesome church! You don't have to be religious to attend. This is a non-denominal church and people from all over the world come here for the amazing sermons and not to mention the interior. This Church is a converted theatre and a must see. Now go and pray!

Most journeys begin at Penn Station or Grand Central, and if you arrive at the later you'll be wowed by the building. The Meatpacking District was once home to markets, slaughterhouses, and packaging plants, but times have changed. Today you'll find a mixture of trendy restaurants, clubs and boutiques. The Village used to be a bohemian neighborhood that drew artists and musicians, but today you're more likely to find upper middle class families living here. Completed in 1883, Brooklyn Bridge is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States. Williamsburg has become popular given its lower rent prices. University students and young professionals have been flocking to this part of town.
You can walk along the riverfront for a great view of the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges and the Manhattan skyline. During the summer months, Bryant Park also becomes a popular hangout spot people looking to relax and even work on their tans. The Staten Island Ferry is free of charge and this makes it really popular with visitors who want to catch a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty from a distance. Battery Park is located on the southern tip of Manhattan. Having both lived in South Korea, we were thrilled to come across Manhattan's own Little Korea. Coney Island is all about good old fashioned fun. The Cloisters will make you feel like you've travelled over to Europe. Central Park is massive and there are so many places to visit within its boundaries. We managed to visit Belvedere Castle, the Great Lawn, Shakespeare Garden, The Ramble, The Jackie Onassis Reservoir, the Alice in Wonderland Statue, and we still left feeling like we barely scratched the surface.
And that concludes a look at our very busy week in New York City. I'm still shocked we managed to cover so many attractions, but the great thing about this city is that distances aren't very long and there's always something really cool worth checking out around each corner. We managed to visit Belvedere Castle, the Great Lawn, Shakespeare Garden, The Ramble, The Jackie Onassis Reservoir, the Alice in Wonderland Statue, and we still left feeling like we barely scratched the surface.
And that concludes a look at our very busy week in New York City. I'm still shocked we managed to cover so many attractions, but the great thing about this city is that distances aren't very long and there's always something really cool worth checking out around each corner. Manhattan Island is the city’s most well known district and the Rockefeller Center in Midtown is often referred to as the heart of the New York. Nearby the Roman Catholic Saint Patrick´s Cathedral is the largest and most magnificent church in the United States. The Grand Central Terminal divides Park Avenue and is a huge station with which the railroad kings, the Venderbilts, left an indelible mark. The huge hall, with its magnificent vaulted ceiling in Beaux Arts style, has been the city’s central railway station for twelve lines since 1913. The confines of Chinatown are inhabited by a hundred and fifty thousand Chinese from China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, most of whom are unable to speak a word of English. Chinese characters wherever one looks and restaurants and Asian stores on every street corner. The famous Wall Street was named after a wall which in the early days protected the growing city against attack by Native American Indians. However, the roots of its subsequent claim to fame were laid in 1792. The young state desperately needed investment and therefore the powers that be decided to issue bonds. Close by, on a small island, is New York’s most famous landmark, the Statue Of Liberty. The head of Lady Liberty leads to the crown from which there are stunning views from several windows. New York City is most certainly unique. A city that’s very much alive and kicking, self-confident and always a surprise!

New York City Parks Employee Allegedly Forced to Clean Dog Poop
The New York City Parks department is investigating allegations that a worker was made to clean dog feces off of a park visitor’s shoes. The woman, Tasheema Chatman, told the NBC 4 New York I-Team in an emotional interview that she felt humiliated and degraded by the Oct. 2 incident at Carl Schurz Park on the Upper East Side. Chatman said she was working her regular job that day, which consists of picking up garbage, branches, leaves, and cleaning up after dog owners who neglect to curb their pets. There was an art fair taking place on the sidewalk at East End Avenue and all park workers were told about the importance of keeping the streets tidy. The New York City Parks department is investigating allegations that a worker was made to clean dog feces off of a park visitor’s shoes.
The woman, Tasheema Chatman, told the NBC 4 New York I-Team in an emotional interview that she felt humiliated and degraded by the Oct. 2 incident at Carl Schurz Park on the Upper East Side.
Chatman said she was working her regular job that day, which consists of picking up garbage, branches, leaves, and cleaning up after dog owners who neglect to curb their pets.
There was an art fair taking place on the sidewalk at East End Avenue and all park workers were told about the importance of keeping the streets tidy.
"My supervisor called me over to 86th and East End,” recalled Chatman. “He said there was poop at that corner.”
But when she arrived, she didn’t see anything on the ground, just her two male supervisors and a man who was a visiting artist, showing at the art fair.
“I didn’t see anything on the ground and the artist suddenly says ‘There’s poop on my shoe, can you help me?’”
Stunned, Chatman looked over to her supervisors for guidance, but they didn’t say anything and she said they just stared at her.
"So I scrubbed his shoe, my supervisor didn’t say anything," she said. "His supervisor just stood there. I had to walk away."
Chatman said she was humiliated and degraded on the sidewalk, scrubbing away at the man's shoe while her two supervisors stood and watched. She said one of them even laughed.

Join me as I play through Assassin's Creed Rogue.
Following on a year from the events of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, a new employee to Abstergo Entertainment begins working on the memories of Shay Patrick Cormac. Set during the events of the French and Indian War, otherwise known as the Seven Years War, we accidental trip a dormant virus that corrupts the Abstergo Helix servers. We’re recruited by series returnee Melanie Lemay to continue delving into Cormac’s memories, while also repairing the systems within the building.
Cormac is a new inductee to the Brotherhood of Assassins, working under the mentor Achilles Davenport. Trying to enable him to see the bigger picture, Davenport orders Cormac to track down a Templar cell researching a Precursor artefact taken after a massive earthquake in Haiti.
Seeing similarities between the previous earthquake, and events that occur during the retrieval of a Piece of Eden, Cormac steals a manuscript necessary to find more of the relics, only to be shot and left for dead.
An opportunity opens up when a passing ship takes him to New York City. He cleans the gangs out of the city, attracting the attention of the city governor George Monro. After working with him, proving himself Monro reveals his affiliation to the Templar Order and offers a place for Cormac. Accepting Cormac is gradually inducted by the Templar Grandmaster, Haytham Kenway. And so begins a new life.
The general feel and gameplay, such as the naval navigation and oceanic combat is next to identical to Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, with the difference being that the Morrígan, Shay’s co-opted vessel, can navigate much shallower water making River navigation possible.
Shay’s parkour, and general movement and combat systems feel exactly the same as Black Flag and the previous iterations too, with the difference being the Air Rifle. Making long range stealth Assassinations possible. General combat features a similar parry system to Assassin’s Creed Unity, but not the general fencing style of combat.
