Eva Narcissus Boyd (June 29, 1943 – April 10, 2003), known by the stage name of Little Eva, was an American pop singer. Although some sources claim that her stage name was inspired by a character from the novel Uncle Tom's Cabin, she stated in an interview that she was named after her aunt, which prompted her family to call her "Little Eva."
Born in Belhaven, North Carolina, she moved to the Brighton Beach section of Brooklyn, New York, at a young age. As a teenager, she worked as a maid and earned extra money as a babysitter for songwriters Carole King and Gerry Goffin. It is often claimed that Goffin and King were amused by Boyd's particular dancing style, so they wrote "The Loco-Motion" for her and had her record it as a demo (the record was intended for Dee Dee Sharp).
However, as King said in an interview with NPR and in her "One to One" concert video, they knew she could sing when they met her, and it would be just a matter of time before they would have her record songs they wrote, the most successful being "The Loco-Motion".
"The Loco-Motion" is a 1962 pop song written by American songwriters Gerry Goffin and Carole King. "The Loco-Motion" was originally written for Dee Dee Sharp but Sharp turned the song down. The song is notable for appearing in the American Top 5 three times – each time in a different decade, performed by artists from three different cultures: originally African American pop singer Little Eva in 1962 (U.S. No. 1); then American band Grand Funk Railroad in 1974 (U.S. No. 1); and finally Australian singer Kylie Minogue in 1988 (U.S. No. 3).
The song is a popular and enduring example of the dance-song genre: much of the lyrics are devoted to a description of the dance itself, usually done as a type of line dance. However, the song came before the dance.
"The Loco-Motion" was also the second song to reach No. 1 by two different musical acts. The earlier song to do this was "Go Away Little Girl", also written by Goffin and King. It is one of only nine songs to achieve this feat.
Little is a surname in the English language. The name is ultimately derived from the Middle English littel, and the Old English lȳtel, which mean "little". In some cases the name was originally a nickname for a little man. In other cases, the name was used to distinguish the younger of two bearers of the same personal name. Early records of the name include: Litle, in 972; Litle, in about 1095; and le Lytle, in 1296. The surname has absorbed several non English-language surnames. For example, Little is sometimes a translation of the Irish Ó Beagáin, meaning "descendant of Beagán". Little can also be a translation of the French Petit and Lepetit, as well as other surnames in various languages with the same meaning ("little"), especially the German name Klein during World War II.
Hayley Warner (born January 23, 1992) is an Australian born singer and songwriter. She has become known for her carefully crafted lyrics and melodies. In 2009, she finished as runner-up in the seventh and final Australian Idol, and was noted for her high-energy performances and vast vocal range. In 2013, The Daily Telegraph named Warner as one of Australia’s most accomplished songwriters. Warner's songwriting credits total over 11 times platinum in sales worldwide. Hayley co-wrote Grammy nominated artist Tori Kelly's single "Hollow" that was released November 3, 2015. After moving to Los Angeles, Warner signed a worldwide publishing deal with Warner/Chappell Music in 2015.
As a young child, Warner was incredibly passionate about sports and set her sights on becoming the best, but at the age of seven, she was diagnosed with Perthes disease which stripped her of her sporting dreams and forced her to learn to walk again. Through her struggle, music quickly became her therapy and true calling. When she was just twelve years old she started her first band, Cloud 9. From the ages of twelve to sixteen, she performed at 500 different venues around Australia.
Gerald "Gerry" Goffin (February 11, 1939 – June 19, 2014) was an American lyricist. Writing initially with his wife Carole King, he co-wrote many international pop hits of the early and mid-1960s, including the US No.1 hits "Will You Love Me Tomorrow", "Take Good Care of My Baby", "The Loco-Motion", and "Go Away Little Girl". It was later said of Goffin that his gift was "to find words that expressed what many young people were feeling but were unable to articulate."
After he and King divorced, Goffin wrote with other composers, including Barry Goldberg and Michael Masser, with whom he wrote "Theme from Mahogany (Do You Know Where You're Going To)" and "Saving All My Love for You", also No.1 hits. During his career Goffin penned over 114 Billboard Hot 100 hits, including eight chart-toppers, and 72 UK hits. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990, with Carole King.
Goffin was born in Brooklyn, New York, and grew up in Queens after his parents' divorce. In his teen years, he did some work for his grandfather, a furrier who was a Russian Jewish immigrant. He enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve after graduating from Brooklyn Technical High School. After spending a year at the U.S. Naval Academy, he resigned from the Navy to study chemistry at Queens College.

Roscoe flees the demons' wrath by escaping through the portal, drawing the demons to discover our world for themselves. Once they pass through, a nightmarish foray of monsters is unleashed. Well, here's the genuine article, "The Loco-Motion" by Little Eva, presented by Bobby Darin and a famous soft drink. No frills, just great dancing synchronization to a truly classic oldie. The "Loco-Motion" was Little Eva's first of three major hits, peaking at #1 on Billboard and Cash Box on August 18, 1962 and holding the top spot for three weeks. However, the flip side, "He Is The Boy," was also a very popular number as well (I have this single on vinyl). Two other Top 40 hits would follow, but "The Loco-Motion" will always be the song most often associated with Little Eva. Enjoy the show!

This video may appeal to collectors of Doo Wop and oldies music in general, a rare behind the scenes look at a Richard Nader concert, this one being from 1991. These clips are presented as they appear on the original VHS tape, unfortunately some of the songs are not complete as no one knew any better over 20 years ago that these videos would be available for the world to see (and may be the only chance to see some of these artists, in some cases). Here is a very rare clip of Little Eva doing her hit Keep Your Hands Off My Baby. This was her first time performing in public since 1976 and very little video of Eva performing exists in her later days. Please check out my other videos that I have from this rehearsal! Enjoy!

"The Loco-Motion" is a 1962 pop song written by American songwriters Gerry Goffin and Carole King. "The Loco-Motion" was originally written for Dee Dee Sharp . 1 by two diffe...

After sweeping Ellen off her feet, gorgeous daddy Gosling chatted with her about Eva Mendes and their two adorable daughters.
Though dance crazes have been around since the Renaissance period, the 1960's decade had more than its fair share. These dances were fads and songwriters were always quick to capitalize on them. In some cases the dance came first and the song afterwards or vice versa. Depending on the source, the facts about the "The Loco-Motion" goes either way. In an interview with original songwriter Carole King on NPR radio, after "Little" Eva died in 2003, King stated she and co-songwriter/husband Gerry Goffin were introduced to Eva Boyd by another vocal group, The Cookies, while working on the song. They realized she had singing talent and had Eva, at the age of sixteen, record the song under the stage name "Little" Eva, but there was no dance upon its release. Once the song became a smash hit, Eva t...

Perhaps no babysitter in history got a bigger break than Eva Boyd, who baby sat for songwriters Carole King and Gerry Goffin. King and Goffin asked her to record a song they had written called "The Loco-Motion". Eva Narcissus Boyd was born June 29, 1943 in Bell Haven, North Carolina. In 1962, she moved to the Brighton Beach area of Brooklyn where she had relatives. One of her relatives new the Cookies and suggested her as a stand-in. So whenever one of the Cokies couldn't get out of class, Eva subsituted for her. Since the work was sporadic Eva often found herself babysitting songwriters Carol King and Gerry Goffin. Returning home one day they found her singing a song theyhad written for Dee dee Sharp. They Liked what they heard, so they rushed her into the sudio, with King doing the back...
Little Eva "Run To Her" From the album "Little Eva!" [Lyrics to "Run To Her"] If you've found another guy Who satisfies you more than I do Run to him, I'll step aside If you think his lips can kiss you Better than my lips can kiss you Run to him, forget my pride If someone else's arms can hold you Better than my arms can hold you Go to him and show to him all your emotion If someone else can make you Happier than I can make you Run to him, my tears will dry If someone else's arms can hold you Better than my arms can hold you Go to him and show to him all your emotion If someone else can make you Happier than I can make you Run to him, my tears will dry If it's me you want to love you I'll be more than glad to love you Hold you till your life is done But, darling, if I'm not the o...

Little Eva, little Eva
She's the dreams from hell
She paints pictures
Scary pictures
She's got things to tell
She doesn't feel too hot
About the world today
She doesn't know she's got
Control in anyway
Don't you leave her she's like a fire
Like a tiny flame dancing in the wind
Don't believe her she'll never tire
She'll make me feel like you never sin
Dancing, dancing
Dancing in the wind
Dancing, dancing
Dancing in the wind
Little Eva feeling tiny
Waltzes through the door
Little Eva eats the candy
She finds there on the floor
'Cause they say what's cruel
Proves to change her style
You don't have to be a fool
To miss the nature of her smile
Don't you leave her she's like a fire
Like a tiny flame dancing in the wind
Don't believe her she'll never tire
She'll make me feel like you never sin
Dancing, dancing
Dancing in the wind
Dancing, dancing
Dancing in the wind
Don't you leave her she's like a fire
Like a tiny flame dancing in the wind
Don't believe her she'll never tire
She'll make me feel like you never sin
Dancing, dancing
Dancing in the wind
Dancing, dancing
