App Store App Blows
Absolutely no way to make Genius Bar appointments either from this app or online. No links are provided now whatsoever. It used to be really easy to schedule an appointment. A failed upgrade on my laptop from El Capitan to Sierra failed & the Apple Store installed it. As expected, their install wiped out all the data & all of the programs I've added in the 2 years I've owned it. I'd done a global backup on to a clone drive. When I got my laptop back I discovered that in all the Apple applications some of the letter keys on my laptop no longer work!!! Meaning I need to schedule another Genius Bar appointment to generate another repair. Trouble is now I have to spend an eternity on the phone on hold so I can make another appointment. Waste of time & perception of incredibly poor customer support by Apple. The app is now merely a sales device for Apple products.
If you want support get Apple Support App
I see this a lot, the Apple Store app removed the genus bar. For me that wasn't much of an issue, but I can see how people dislike that. That is why there is the Apple Support App, that is the app you use if you need support. Anyway for the Apple Store app it's ok, it has all of the Apple products and accessories from the website. I've never had it crash or anything like that which is nice. One thing I dislike is the fact that it asks me to turn Bluetooth on. If they can fix that by removing that notification than the app would be better.
Decent app to buy apple products
This app is beautifully designed and it provides a consistent purchase experience with the apple online store. Previously I had some negative experience with the app when they removed the Genius Bar reservation function, however, it seems that they have launched another apple support app to deal with the GB reservations. My only complain is that I don't understand why apple cant simply combine these two apps into one for a real one-stop-shop experience.
