Associations in various fields of study:
The Association is an American pop band from California in the folk rock or soft rock genre. During the 1960s, they had numerous hits at or near the top of the Billboard charts (including "Windy", "Cherish", and "Along Comes Mary") and were the lead-off band at 1967's Monterey Pop Festival.
Jules Alexander (born September 25, 1943, Chattanooga, Tennessee) was in Hawaii in 1962 serving a stint in the Navy when he met Terry Kirkman (born December 12, 1939, Salina, Kansas, who had grown up in Chino, California, and attended Chaffey College as a music major), a visiting salesman. The two young musicians jammed together and promised to get together once Alexander was discharged. That happened a year later; the two eventually moved to Los Angeles and began exploring the city's music scene in the mid-1960s, often working behind the scenes as directors and arrangers for other music acts. At the same time, Kirkman played in groups with Frank Zappa for a short period before Zappa went on to form The Mothers of Invention.
The Smothers Brothers are Thomas ("Tom" – born February 2, 1937) and Richard ("Dick" – born November 20, 1938), American singers, musicians, and comedians. The brothers' trademark double act was performing folk songs (Tommy on acoustic guitar, Dick on string bass), which usually led to arguments between the siblings. Tommy's signature line was, "Mom always liked you best!" Tommy (the elder of the two) acted "slow", and Dick, the straight man, acted "superior".
In the 1960s, the brothers frequently appeared on television variety shows and issued several popular record albums of their stage performances. Their own television variety show, The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, became one of the most controversial American TV programs of the Vietnam War era. Despite popular success, the brothers' penchant for material that was critical of the political mainstream and sympathetic to the emerging counterculture led to their firing by the CBS network in 1969. One show was left unaired.
"Along Comes Mary" is a song composed by Tandyn Almer, originally recorded in 1966 by the Association, and released on their debut album And Then... Along Comes the Association. It was their first hit and reached number seven on the U.S. charts. "Mary" in the song's title subtly refers to marijuana.
It has been covered by several artists, most notably the Bloodhound Gang.

Because a commenter brought it up: giving credit to the Association for making this song, and to the Smothers Brothers for hosting them on that episode of their show. Despite the ostensibly psychedelic cover, the album was even lighter on psychedelic influences than their first three, with "The Time it is Today" being the sole representative of conventional psychedelic rock. The Association - Cherish - Live Concert from 1979... I think this was from a show on HBO...
Stop for a moment just to see where you're goin'
If you sure that is what you wanna know
Now that you think that the end is worth knowin'
Back to the start is where you wanna go
Hey, everybody is
Just about the same, just about the same
Hey, when you finally see
From where we came, from where we came
Ask me your question and I'll give you your answer
Are you part of everybody, yes, you are
Where do you think all these people have come from
Are you their brother, well, I guess you are
Hey, everybody is
Just about the same, just about the same
Hey, when you finally see
