The TV Week Logie Awards are the annual Australian television industry awards, which have been presented annually since 1959. Coined by Graham Kennedy in 1960 after he won the first Star of the Year award, the name Logie awards honours John Logie Baird, who invented television as a practical medium. Awards are given in many categories, but the most widely publicized award is the Gold Logie, which is awarded to the most popular personality on Australian television.
Four Corners, Neighbours, Play School and Home and Away are the only programs that have been inducted collectively into the Logie Hall of Fame. The latest ceremony The Logie Awards of 2016, will be held in May, and for the first time will feature awards for locally produced digital content.
The first awards, known as the TV Week Awards, were instigated by TV Week magazine after the first voting coupons were released in the magazine in late 1958, two years after the introduction of television in Australia. The first awards saw no formal ceremony; they were presented on 15 January 1959 on an episode of In Melbourne Tonight. Only Melbourne television personalities were nominated and awards were given in eight categories, including two for American programs.

It was later announced it would premiere on 4 November 2013 as part of Ten's brand new morning lineup which also included the short lived breakfast program Wake Up
On 11 November 2013, Buttrose served as a guest on Tens then breakfast show, Wake Up. Network Ten had planned to transport her from Wake Up's Manly studio to Tens Pyrmont studios by water taxi across Sydney Harbour in time for Studio 10 and film her journey with an overhead helicopter. However, due to poor weather Buttrose's water taxi became stranded, meaning she missed most of Studio 10.

The Gold Logie Award for Best Personality on Australian Television, commonly referred to simply as the Gold Logie, is an award presented annually at the Australian TV Week Logie Awards. For the 2016 ceremony, the award was renamed from "Most Popular" to "Best". The winner and nominees of the Gold Logie are chosen by the public through an online voting survey on the TV Week website. Although there have been 56 awards ceremonies, a total of 65 Gold Logies have been won as two Gold Logies, for male and female, were awarded in 1962, 1967, 1970, 1971, 1974, 1975, 1976 and 1977. One Direction singing What Makes You Beautiful live in Australia at the TV Week Logie Awards (Logies) - 15th April 2012
Do not scoff at love's bitter edges, for they in
themselves bear witness.
To an age of bygone fancy, where tear-stained forests
rushed into their evening to pout.
For they were without the grass they love to touch, they
love to touch.
Ledges, ledges. Ledges, ledges.
Glistening in the sun, rainbow betrothed to the sky. On
mystic wings I have soared past ledges.
And in myself I bear witness, to an age of bygone fancy.
Where burn-out stars hid their faces in shame. And
planets turned their backs and were unholy.
And without reason and love.
