A structured document is an electronic document where some method of embedded coding, such as mark-up, is used to give the whole, and parts, of the document various structural meanings according to a schema. A structured document whose mark-up doesn't break the schema and is designed to conform to and which obeys the syntax rules of its mark-up language is "well-formed".
As of 2009 the most widely used markup language, in all its evolving forms, is HTML, which is used to structure documents according to various Document Type Definition (DTD) schema defined and described by the W3C, which continually reviews, refines and evolves the specifications.
In writing structured documents the focus is on encoding the logical structure of a document, with no explicit concern in the structural markup for its presentation to humans by printed pages, screens or other means. Structured documents, especially well formed ones, can easily be processed by computer systems to extract and present metadata about the document. In most Wikipedia articles for example, a table of contents is automatically generated from the different heading tags in the body of the document. Popular word processors can have such a function available.
Yōji Yamamoto (山本 耀司, Yamamoto Yōji, born 1943) is an award winning and influential Japanese fashion designer based in Tokyo and Paris. He is considered to be a master tailor, alongside those such as Madeleine Vionnet and is known for his avant-garde tailoring featuring Japanese design aesthetics.
His more prestigious awards for his contributions to fashion include Chevalier of Ordre des Arts et des Lettres,Medal of Honor with Purple Ribbon, the Ordre national du Mérite, the Royal Designer for Industry and the Master of Design award by Fashion Group International.
Born in Tokyo, Yamamoto graduated from Keio University with a degree in law in 1966. His further studies in fashion design at Bunka Fashion College led to a degree in 1969.
Yamamoto debuted in Paris in 1981. In an interview with the New York Times in 1983, Yamamoto said of his designs, "'I think that my men's clothes look as good on women as my women's clothing […] When I started designing, I wanted to make men's clothes for women." More recently he has expounded: “When I started making clothes for my line Y’s in 1977, all I wanted was for women to wear men’s clothes. I jumped on the idea of designing coats for women. It meant something to me – the idea of a coat guarding and hiding a woman’s body. I wanted to protect the woman’s body from something – maybe from men’s eyes or a cold wind.”
Mathilde ter Heijne (born 1969 in Strasbourg, France) is a Berlin-based Dutch artist primarily working within the mediums of video, performance, and installation practices. She studied in Maastricht at the Stadsacademie (1988-1992), in Amsterdam at the Rijksacademie voor Beeldende Kunsten (1992-1994), and since 2011 has been a professor of Visual Art, Performance, and Installation at Kunsthochschule Kassel.
Ter Heijne's research based practice is founded in intersectional feminism. Her video art produced in the 1990's destabilized patriarchal tropes within literature and cinema through elaborate re-stagings and role reversals. Some examples of this include Mathilde, Mathilde where the artist herself mimics suicidal female lovers in cinema adaptations or her 2001 video project Small Things End, Great things Endure where she offers a reading of Uwe Johnson's Jahrestage (1934–84). In both of these works, ter Heijne responds to female and culturally embedded generational trauma where in the end, be it a story, movie, or in real life, the woman always dies. This internal perpetual state of abjection or what Griselda Pollock has called the trauma of being born into a phallocentric world are both concepts that ter Heijne contends with and untimely rips apart. By "playing the victim," ter Heijne subtly reverses power roles transforming woman as object into woman as subject.

We have a deep fascination about space and the way galaxies are structured. We tried -humbly- to make some frequency system. Acording to the kind of center corresponds a specific kind of sound. We've always amazed how an algorithm produces complex images by just letting it live for a while, very similar to the way memory works on humans. // --------------------------------------------------------- // This video was part of a generative art HackPact ( write/document/share one code a day for a month) // More details about our full contribution to the HackPact here: http://www.realitat.com/HACKPACT
3' from 5'23'' video collectif_fact, Annelore Schneider, Claude Piguet & Swann Thommen collectif-fact.ch The video installation 'Circus' deals in a very unusual way with the construction of space. The video work is based on digital photos of a busy square in Geneva that the artists dissembled into layers and subjected to digital animation. The installation shows a constantly moving view of the city, that seems to be disintegrating. Set pieces of urban architecture, logos and passers-by float incalculably and vertiginously towards the viewers. On the basis of the photographic document of a real city, the artists create a three dimensionality that refers indirectly to the virtual 3D worlds of computer games, while at the same time deconstructing the unambiguity and coherence of their spatia...
Selgascano’s design for the 15th Pavilion reveals an amorphous, double-skinned, polygonal structure consisting of panels of a translucent, multi-coloured fluorine-based polymer (ETFE) woven through and wrapped like webbing. Visitors can enter and exit the Pavilion at a number of different points, passing through a ‘secret corridor’ between the outer and inner layer of the structure and into the Pavilion’s colourful interior. The architects’ inspiration not only came from the site itself, but from the ways in which people move through London, notably the London Underground with its many-layered, chaotic yet structured flow. Stephenson / Bishop were commissioned to document the construction of the project and the finished structure.
In May 2011, five Magnum photographers – Paolo Pellegrin, Jim Goldberg, Susan Meiselas, Alec Soth, Mikhael Subotzky – and a writer, Ginger Strand, set out from Austin, Texas, in an RV. Two weeks and 1750 miles later, they arrived in Oakland, California. The resulting limited edition book is a collection of objects – a book, five bumper stickers, a newspaper, two fold-outs, three cards, a poster and five zines that collectively document the experience. Susan Meiselas, Magnum Photo Member, reviews it in this Paris Photo Platform Pecha-Kucha session (nov, 2012). more info here: http://postcards.magnumphotos.com/ --- the Paris Photo Platform featured 4 days of conferences directed by Roxana Marcoci, Curator of Photography at The Museum of Modern Art, New York, with the special contribution ...
Contact Light explores the idea of the 'man in the moon' through glitches, optical illusions and the Apollo 11 and 17 missions in 1969 and 1972, designed by Michael Betancourt. In Georges Melies' 1902 film "A Trip to the Moon," the astronomers are dressed as wizards, not scientists, putting the journey they make firmly in the realm of fantasy--and yet less than seventy years later we actually make this trip. It is possible to have seen Melies' film when it was new and to watched the 1969 moon landing as an adult. This fusion and juxtaposition of such different ideas of the moon and visiting it that gave rise to this film. This archival “remix” juxtaposes a range of historical sources and combines the ghostly music bleeding through in Reception/Transmission with plasma wave sounds and his...

It was about a million miles away from what we did. Peter Saville: Unfortunately, it is the beginning of where it all goes horribly wrong. I ...

for violin and real-time interactive graphics created by Maja Cerar + Liubo Borissov Tragodia Trilogia (The Tragedy Trilogy) is set as a classical tragedy narrated by movement, sound and light. The first part, Autopoiesis, deals with questions of beginnings and creation. The second part, Mimesis, confronts the schism between reality and representation highlighted by Plato and Aristotle's disagreement on the role and importance of art. The final part, Catharsis, attempts to resolve the conflicts and answer the original questions. Autopoiesis is a work that imagines realities and is, in part, also a humorous document of the discussions between the two authors about the beginning of the universe. It tackles the idea of existing in more than one place at a single time and coping with a dupl...
