Brisbane trains: Redcliffe Peninsula line out of action

Queensland's newest train line is out of action, with commuters urged to find another way in to work.

About 6.45am, transport agency Translink said no trains were running on the Redcliffe Peninsula line due to a signal fault.

Replacement buses had been arranged in both directions between Kippa-Ring and Petrie but a spokesman warned hour-long delays were expected.

He urged passengers to delay their travel or find another transport option.

About 8.40am, Queensland Rail advised buses were stopping at all stations on the Moreton Bay Rail Link with delays down to half an hour.

Things weren't much better on the roads as drivers on the way to work suffered a "pretty shocking run" across Brisbane.

A two-car "minor nose-to-tail" crash about 7am on the Logan Motorway westbound at Kingston was causing delays all the way back to the M1.

Traffic reporter Amelia Oberhardt told ABC Radio Brisbane the right lane was blocked near Kingston.

She said the Pacific Motorway was "crawling" from Woolloongabba to the RIverside Expressway, the Gateway Motorway was slow northbound from Belmont and southbound between Bald Hills and Nudgee.

Meanwhile, the Bruce Highway was slow inbound from North Lakes and the Ipswich Motorway and Centenary Highway were slow in the usual spots near Darra.
